Scanfil Darning Wool for wool socks SEA GREEN
Darning wool for darning wool socks and clothing
Yes, wool socks are the best... until holes start to appear. We cannot say it often enough: pure wool socks will get holes. For some people faster than for others. It is therefore a plain fact that 100% wool socks will develop holes. For some, it happens faster than for others. My boyfriend, for example, gets holes in his socks quite quickly, whereas I can wear mine for many winters. It can have all sorts of causes, even the way you walk, the type of shoes, or whether you wear them with or without slippers. We explicitly advise against wearing them as slippers. That is 1. Dangerous, because wool socks are super slippery and 2. The wear-and-tear process is even faster.
Holes in wool socks are therefore completely normal!
Despite our advice, holes in wool socks can never be entirely prevented, as this is simply part of the properties of wool. Fortunately, holes in socks are very easy to darn.
The best approach is to start darning as soon as the wool of the socks becomes thin. If you don't, they may fray further. For you, it is (hopefully) not too late yet :-) Do not forget to order darning wool and a darning egg! For the latter, as you have seen, you can also use an orange!
If you are looking for a long-term solution for cold feet that you can comfortably wear indoors, those would be our Glerups. You can just wear them without socks: warm feet guaranteed.
