Scanfil Darning Wool for wool socks LAVENDER 139
Darning wool for darning wool socks and clothing lavender
Yes, wool socks are absolutely the best... until the holes start appearing. We can't say it often enough: holes will appear in pure wool socks. For some people faster than for others. It is therefore a known fact that holes will appear in 100% wool socks. For some, it happens faster than for others. For example, my boyfriend gets holes in his socks quite quickly, while I can wear mine for winters on end. It can have all sorts of causes, even the way you walk, the type of shoes, or whether you wear them with or without slippers. By the way, we strongly advise against wearing them as slippers. That is 1. Dangerous, because wool socks are super slippery and 2. The wear-and-tear process speeds up even more.
Holes in wool socks are therefore completely normal!
Holes in wool socks can therefore never be entirely prevented, despite our advice, because this is simply part of the properties of wool. Fortunately, holes in socks are very easy to darn.
It is best to start darning as soon as the wool of your socks becomes thin. If you don't, they can fray further. For you, it is (hopefully) not too late yet :-) Don't forget to order darning wool and a darning egg! For the latter, as you have seen, you can also use an orange!
If you are looking for a long-term solution for cold feet that you can comfortably walk around the house in, those would be our Glerups. You can wear those without socks: warm feet guaranteed.
