Scanfil darning wool for wool socks CERISE
Darning wool for mending wool socks and clothing red
Yes, wool socks are absolutely the best... until the holes appear. We cannot say it often enough: holes will appear in pure wool socks. For some people faster than for others. It is therefore a well-known fact that holes will appear in 100% wool socks. For some it happens faster than for others. My boyfriend, for example, gets holes in his socks quite quickly, while I can wear socks for winters on end. There can be all sorts of reasons for this, even the way you walk, the type of shoes you wear, or whether you wear them with or without slippers. Incidentally, it is explicitly our advice not to wear them as slippers. That is 1. Dangerous, because wool socks are super slippery and 2. The wear-and-tear process goes even faster then.
So, holes in wool socks are completely normal!
Despite our advice, holes in wool socks can never be entirely prevented, because that is simply part of the properties of wool. Fortunately, holes in socks are very easy to darn
The best thing is to start darning as soon as the wool of the socks has become thin. If you don't do that, they can unravel further. For you, it is (hopefully) not too late yet :-) Do not forget to order darning wool and a darning egg! For the latter, as you have seen, you can also use an orange!
Should you be looking for a longer-term solution for cold feet that you can comfortably walk around the house in, those would be our Glerups. You can wear those without socks: warm feet guaranteed.
