Scanfil Darning Wool for wool socks orange
Darning wool for darning wool socks and clothing orange
Yes, wool socks are absolutely the best... until the holes appear. We cannot say it often enough: holes appear in pure wool socks. For some people faster than for others. It is therefore a well-known fact that holes appear in 100% wool socks. For some it happens faster than for others. My partner, for example, gets holes in his socks quite quickly, whereas I can wear mine for winters on end. It can have all sorts of causes, even the way you walk, the type of shoes, or whether you wear them with or without slippers. By the way, it is strictly our advice not to wear them as slippers. That is 1. Dangerous, because wool socks are super slippery and 2. The wear-and-tear process goes even faster.
Holes in wool socks are therefore completely normal!
Holes in wool socks can therefore never be entirely prevented, despite our advice, because this is simply part of the properties of wool. Fortunately, holes in socks are very easy to darn
The best thing is to start darning socks as soon as the wool has become thin. If you don't, they can fray further. For you, it is (hopefully) not too late yet :-) Don't forget to order darning wool and a darning egg! For the latter, as you have seen, you can also use an orange!
If you are looking for a long-term solution for cold feet that you can safely wear indoors, our Glerups are the answer. You can wear those without socks: warm feet guaranteed.
