Scanfil Darning Wool for wool socks BEIGE 45
Darning wool for darning wool socks and clothing beige
Yes, wool socks are absolutely the best... until holes start to appear in them. We cannot say it often enough: holes will form in pure wool socks. For some people faster than for others. So it is a plain fact that holes appear in 100% wool socks. For some it happens faster than for others. My boyfriend, for example, gets holes in his socks quite quickly, while I can wear socks for winters on end. There can be all sorts of causes, even the way you walk, the type of shoes, or whether you wear them with or without slippers. Incidentally, it is explicitly our advice not to wear them as slippers. That is 1. Dangerous, because wool socks are super slippery and 2. The wear-and-tear process goes even faster.
Holes in wool socks are therefore completely normal!
Holes in wool socks can therefore never be completely prevented, despite our advice, because this is simply part of the properties of the wool. Fortunately, holes in socks are very easy to darn.
The best thing is to start darning as soon as the wool of your socks has become thin. If you don't, they can fray further. For you, it is (hopefully) not too late yet :-) Do not forget to order darning wool and a darning egg along with your order! For the latter, as you have seen, you can also use an orange!
If you are looking for a longer-term solution for cold feet that you can safely wear indoors, then our Glerups are the answer. You can just wear them without socks: warm feet guaranteed.
