Scanfil Darning Wool for wool socks RED
Darning wool for repairing wool socks and clothing
Yes, wool socks are absolutely wonderful... until the holes appear. We cannot say it often enough: holes will appear in pure wool socks. For some faster than for others. It is therefore a foregone conclusion that 100% wool socks will develop holes. For some, it happens faster than for others. My boyfriend, for example, gets holes in his socks quite quickly, while I can wear mine for winters on end. There can be all sorts of reasons for this, even the way you walk, the type of shoes you wear, or whether you wear them with or without slippers. Incidentally, we explicitly advise against wearing them as slippers. That is 1. Dangerous, because wool socks are very slippery and 2. The wear-and-tear process happens even faster.
Holes in wool socks are therefore completely normal!
Holes in wool socks can never be completely prevented, despite our advice, because this is simply part of the properties of wool. Fortunately, holes in socks are very easy to darn
It is best to start darning as soon as the wool of your socks has become thin. If you don't, they may unravel further. For you, it is (hopefully) not too late yet :-) Don't forget to order darning wool and a darning egg! For the latter, as you have seen, you can also use an orange!
If you are looking for a long-term solution for cold feet that you can comfortably wear indoors, our Glerups are the answer. You can wear those without socks: warm feet guaranteed.
