Scanfil Darning Wool for wool socks
Darning wool for darning wool socks and clothing
Yes, wool socks are absolutely the best... until the holes appear. We cannot say it often enough: holes appear in pure wool socks. For some people faster than for others. It is therefore a plain fact that holes appear in 100% wool socks. For some people it happens faster than for others. My boyfriend, for example, gets holes in his socks quite quickly, while I can wear socks for winters on end. It can have all sorts of causes, even the way you walk, the type of shoes, or whether you wear them with or without slippers. By the way, it is explicitly our advice not to wear them as slippers. That is 1. Dangerous, because wool socks are super slippery and 2. The wear-and-tear process is even faster.
Holes in wool socks are therefore completely normal!
Holes in wool socks can therefore, despite our advice, never be fully prevented, because this is simply part of the characteristics of wool. Fortunately, holes in socks are very easy to darn
It is best to start darning as soon as the wool of your socks has become thin. If you don't, they can fray further open. For you, it is (hopefully) not too late yet :-) Don't forget to order darning wool and a darning egg along with them! For the latter, as you have seen, you can also use an orange!
Should you be looking for a longer-term solution for cold feet that you can safely wear indoors, those would be our Glerups. You can just wear those without socks: warm feet guaranteed.
