Scanfil Darning Wool for wool socks BROWN 60
Darning wool for mending wool socks and clothing brown
Yes, wool socks are absolutely wonderful... until holes appear in them. We can't say it often enough: holes will develop in pure wool socks. For some faster than for others. It is therefore a plain fact that 100% wool socks will get holes. For some it happens faster than for others. My boyfriend, for example, gets holes in his socks quite quickly, while I can wear socks for years. It can have all kinds of causes, even the way you walk, the type of shoes, or whether you wear them with or without slippers. By the way, we explicitly advise against wearing them as slippers. That is 1. Dangerous, because wool socks are super slippery and 2. The wear-and-tear process goes even faster.
Holes in wool socks are therefore completely normal!
Holes in wool socks can therefore, despite our advice, never be completely prevented, because this is simply part of the properties of wool. Fortunately, holes in socks are very easy to mend
The best thing to do is to start darning socks as soon as the wool has become thin. If you don't, they can fray further. For you, it is (hopefully) not too late yet :-) Don't forget to order darning wool and a darning egg! For the latter, as you have seen, you can also use an orange!
If you are looking for a longer-term solution for cold feet that you can comfortably walk around the house in, those would be our Glerups. You can just wear them without socks: warm feet guaranteed.
