Scanfil Darning Wool for wool socks sun yellow
Darning wool for darning wool socks and clothing yellow
Yes, wool socks are absolutely the best... until the holes appear. We cannot say it often enough: holes will appear in pure wool socks. For some faster than others. It is therefore a plain fact that holes appear in 100% wool socks. For some it happens faster than for others. My boyfriend, for example, gets holes in his socks quite quickly, whereas I wear socks for winters on end. It can have all sorts of causes, even the way you walk, the type of shoes, or whether you wear them with or without slippers. Incidentally, it is explicitly our advice not to wear them as slippers. That is 1. Dangerous, because wool socks are super slippery and 2. The wear-and-tear process accelerates even more.
Holes in wool socks are therefore completely normal!
Holes in wool socks, despite our advice, can never be completely prevented, because this is simply part of the properties of wool. Fortunately, holes in socks are very easy to darn.
The best thing to do is to start darning as soon as the wool of your socks becomes thin. If you don't, they may unravel further. For you, it is (hopefully) not too late yet :-) Don't forget to order darning wool and a darning mushroom as well! For the latter, as you have seen, you can also use an orange!
Should you be looking for a longer-term solution for cold feet that you can comfortably walk around the house in, those would be our Glerups. You can simply wear those without socks: warm feet guaranteed.
