Scanfil Darning Wool for wool socks moss green
Darning wool for darning wool socks and clothing green
Yes, wool socks are absolutely the best... until the holes appear. We cannot say it often enough: holes will appear in pure wool socks. For some people faster than for others. So it is a dead certainty that holes will appear in 100% wool socks. For some it happens faster than for others. My boyfriend, for example, gets holes in his socks quite quickly, while I can wear the same socks for winters on end. It can have all sorts of causes, even the way you walk, the type of shoes, or whether you wear them with or without slippers. By the way, it is explicitly our advice not to wear them as slippers. That is 1. Dangerous, because wool socks are super slippery and 2. The wear-and-tear process goes even faster then.
Holes in wool socks are therefore quite normal!
Holes in wool socks can therefore never be completely prevented, despite our advice, because this is simply part of the properties of wool. Fortunately, holes in socks are very easy to darn.
It is best to start darning as soon as the wool of your socks has become thin. If you don't, they can fray open further. For you, it is (hopefully) not too late yet :-) Do not forget to order darning wool and a darning egg! For the latter, as you have seen, you can also use an orange!
If you are looking for a long-term solution for cold feet that you can safely wear indoors, those would be our Glerups. You can just wear them without socks: warm feet guaranteed.
