Scanfil Darning Wool for wool socks GREY 58
Darning wool for darning wool socks and clothing grey
Yes, wool socks are the absolute best... until they develop holes. We can't say it enough: pure wool socks get holes. For some people faster than others. So it is a simple fact that 100% wool socks will get holes. For some, it happens faster than for others. My boyfriend, for example, gets holes in his socks quite quickly, whereas I can wear mine for winters on end. There can be all sorts of causes, even your gait, the type of shoes you wear, or whether you wear them with or without slippers. By the way, we strongly advise against wearing them as slippers. That is 1. Dangerous, because wool socks are super slippery, and 2. The wear-and-tear process goes even faster.
Holes in wool socks are therefore completely normal!
Despite our advice, holes in wool socks can never be completely prevented, because this is simply part of the properties of wool. Fortunately, holes in socks are very easy to darn.
The best thing to do is start darning as soon as the wool of your socks starts to thin out. If you don't, they may fray further. For you, it is (hopefully) not too late yet :-) Don't forget to order darning wool and a darning egg! For the latter, as you saw, you can also use an orange!
If you are looking for a long-term solution for cold feet that you can comfortably walk around the house in, those would be our Glerups. You can simply wear those without socks: warm feet guaranteed.
