Glerups Denim bootie with leather sole
Denim is one of those colors that just goes with everything. It matches your favorite pair of jeans, but also pairs just as easily with plaid pajama pants, wool leggings, or that loungewear you wouldn't officially want anyone to see you in at the door. These Glerups have the same relaxed vibe as your favorite jeans, but they aren't actually made of denim. They consist of 100% natural wool felt in a beautiful, heathered shade of blue.
The high boot model reaches up to the ankle, providing extra warmth. The flexible leather sole keeps the slipper light and supple. A wonderful combination for anyone who loves having warm feet at home but doesn't want to wear heavy or stiff house shoes.

Denim blue, but made of wool
The name Denim refers only to the color of the wool felt. These slippers are not made of denim fabric. The blue has a heathered look, which keeps the natural fibers of the wool beautifully visible. This gives the color more depth than a solid, flat dark blue.
Denim is easy: less dark than navy, calmer than bright blue, and just a bit different from the standard gray or brown. This makes it a great choice if you're looking for a timeless pair of Glerups but still want a bit of color on your feet.
Because wool is a natural product, the shade and texture may vary slightly from pair to pair. This is not a defect, but part of the natural character of wool felt.
Extra warmth around your ankles
When we think of cold feet, we usually think of toes, but cold ankles can be just as unpleasant. The high Glerups model covers more than the low-shoe or slip-on models. The wool felt envelops your foot and ankle, keeping a larger area comfortably warm.
The shaft features a small notch on the side. This makes it easy to slip the boots on and gives your ankle plenty of room to move while walking. The model feels firm at first, but it gradually becomes more supple and will mold to your foot over time.
This makes these wool booties perfect for chilly mornings, cold floors, working from home, and long evenings when you only get off the couch to grab a snack.
What does wool do for your feet?
Wool can retain heat while still remaining breathable. The material helps regulate the temperature around your feet and can absorb moisture without immediately feeling clammy. That's why Glerups are warm, but generally much less stuffy than slippers made mostly of synthetic materials.
You can wear these booties directly on bare feet. This allows the wool to utilize its natural properties optimally. Do you prefer wearing socks, or are you just always cold? A pair of wool socks is perfectly fine, too. Then you're officially prepared for any Dutch winter.
Leather sole: flexible and made for indoors
The leather sole is light and flexible. It moves easily with your foot and therefore feels less rigid than a rubber sole. You can also walk almost silently through the house. Very pleasant for you and for any roommates who don't need to know exactly how many times you're walking to the pantry in the evening.
Leather is mainly suitable for dry indoor floors. Moisture, street dirt, and rough pavement can damage the sole and cause it to wear out faster. Therefore, do not use these Denim Glerups as outdoor shoes and try not to wear them to the garden, shed, or trash container every day.

How to determine your Glerups size
Glerups generally run true to standard European shoe sizes. The slipper should fit snugly around your foot, but your toes should be able to lie flat and relaxed. If your toes are pressing firmly against the front from the start, the pair is too small.
Do you wear a half size? Round up. For example, if you are a size 39.5, choose size 40. The larger size can also be more comfortable for wide feet or a high instep.
At the same time, don't make the slippers looser than necessary. If your foot slides back and forth with every step, extra friction is created in the wool felt. The felt becomes more supple as you wear it and molds to your foot, but a pair that is too short won't suddenly grow significantly in length.

Good to know: at Natur-el, we primarily stock sizes 37 through 45. Looking for a different size? Please contact us first. Other sizes can often be ordered especially for you. Because these are purchased exclusively upon request, specially ordered sizes cannot be exchanged or returned.
A table is, of course, just a guide. Your foot width and arch height also play a role. If you are doubting between two sizes or models, read our complete Glerups selection guide for extensive size advice.
The first few weeks with your new Glerups
New Glerups may shed some lint at first. During wear, loose and excess wool fibers will emerge. You can carefully remove lint that is already loose with your fingers. Do not pull on fibers that are still attached to the wool felt.
Usually, the shedding decreases on its own after about three to four weeks. During that same period, the wool felt becomes more supple and the bootie molds better to your foot. A broken-in pair may therefore feel different than a brand-new pair in the exact same size.
Wool felt can also wear out
Glerups are meant to be enjoyed, but they aren't indestructible. Wool is a natural material and can thin out due to prolonged pressure and friction. Eventually, this can lead to worn spots or holes.
How quickly this happens varies by person. Some people wear the same pair for several years, while very intensive daily use can sometimes lead to visible wear within about six months. Your walking style, the fit, protruding toes or nails, and the surface you walk on all play a role.
Normal wear is not a product defect and is not covered by warranty. Therefore, check the wool felt at your toes, heels, and sides occasionally. Do you see a thin spot forming? Then it is wise to have it repaired in time.
The leather sole will also wear down with use. Whether a worn sole can still be repaired or replaced depends on where and how severely it is damaged. Please feel free to contact us; we are happy to take a look with you before you say goodbye to your favorite Glerups.
Air out your Glerups instead of washing
Wool naturally has self-cleaning properties. That is why you usually don't need to wash Glerups at all. Regularly place them in a dry, well-ventilated area and give them a day of rest now and then. Fresh air often does a surprisingly good amount of work.
Did a stain occur anyway? Dab it carefully with a slightly damp cloth and a small amount of suitable wool detergent. Don't wet the entire bootie and let it dry at room temperature. Never place wet wool felt on or directly next to a heater.
You can gently brush the leather sole with a suitable leather brush. Try to avoid water on the leather as much as possible.
Never put Glerups in the regular washing machine or dryer. Heat, friction, and temperature fluctuations can cause the wool felt to shrink or deform and can damage the leather sole. Want to know more about the self-cleaning power of wool? Watch our video on the special properties of wool.
