Glerups bootie Charcoal with leather sole
Charcoal is for those who find grey just a little too light and black just a bit too severe. A deep, mottled anthracite colour that matches everything and yet looks much softer than solid black. Timeless, sturdy, and wonderfully uncomplicated. Exactly as we believe a good slipper should be.
These high-cut Glerups are made from 100% natural wool felt. The boot style keeps your ankles warm, while the supple leather sole feels light and flexible. A great house shoe for anyone who wants warm feet without having to put on a thick, synthetic slipper.

A calm colour that never gets boring
Charcoal is dark grey with a natural, mottled texture. The different wool fibres give the colour more depth and make it less harsh than solid black. As a result, these Glerups have a calm, almost Scandinavian look.
It is also a wonderfully easy colour. Charcoal matches almost everything you wear at home and is loved by both men and women. Convenient if you happen to be the same size, although we cannot promise that there won't be any discussion at home about who this nice pair actually belongs to.
Wool is a natural product. As a result, the colour and structure can differ slightly per pair or delivery. That is not a manufacturing defect, but rather part of the natural appearance of the material.
Why the boot model is extra cosy
The Glerups bootie comes up higher than the shoe or slip-on model. The wool felt therefore not only encloses your foot but also your ankle. Especially on cold floors or in a draughty house, this provides extra warmth.
The shaft has a notch on the side, making the bootie easy to pull on and ensuring your ankle has enough freedom of movement while walking. Despite the high-cut model, the slipper does not feel heavy or stiff.
The wool felt may feel a bit firm on a new pair. While wearing them, the material becomes more supple and gradually moulds to your foot. This way, your Glerups will feel more and more like a pair made especially for you.
Natural warmth from 100% wool felt
Wool retains heat but does not completely seal off your feet. The material remains breathable and can absorb moisture without feeling clammy. This helps to regulate the temperature around your feet in a natural way.
Glerups therefore feel pleasantly warm, but usually less sweaty than slippers made of synthetic materials. You can wear them directly on your bare feet. This brings the wool into direct contact with your skin, allowing you to benefit optimally from its temperature and moisture-regulating properties.
Do you prefer to wear socks, or are you always truly cold? That works perfectly well, too. By adding wool socks, you create the superlative of warm feet.
The benefits of a leather sole
The leather sole is light, quiet, and flexible. It moves easily with your foot and provides sufficient protection against a hard or cold floor without the slipper feeling heavy.
This sole is primarily intended for indoor use. Leather is sensitive to moisture, dirt, and rough surfaces. Therefore, do not walk outside with these Glerups on a wet patio, in the garden, or daily. A version with a natural rubber sole is more suitable for that.

How should a Glerups fit?
A new pair of Glerups should fit nicely around your foot. Your toes should be able to lie relaxed and should not press firmly against the front. The wool felt becomes more supple through wearing and moulds to your foot, but a pair that is too short will not stretch to a full size larger.
The sizes generally correspond to standard European shoe sizes. Do you wear a half size? Round up. For a size 42.5, choose size 43. A larger size can also be nicer for wide feet or a high instep.
However, a size larger is not always better. If your foot slides back and forth constantly while walking, extra friction occurs. That is less comfortable and can cause the wool felt to become thin sooner.

Good to know in advance: at Natur-el, we mainly stock Glerups in sizes 37 to 45. Do you need a different size? Please contact us first. We can often order other sizes especially for you. Specially ordered sizes are purchased exclusively upon request and cannot be exchanged or returned.
The size chart provides a good indication, but the width of your feet and the height of your instep are also important. Are you still in doubt? In our complete Glerups buying guide, you will find extensive size advice, and we explain the differences between all models and soles.
What can you expect from a new pair?
During the first few weeks, new Glerups may shed some loose wool fibres or fluff. That is normal with natural wool felt. Excess fibres work their way out due to the movement of your feet.
You can carefully remove loose fluff with your fingers. Do not pull on fibres that are still firmly attached. After about three to four weeks, the shedding usually decreases by itself, and the pair begins to mould more beautifully to your feet.
Sustainable use starts with proper care
Even a quality product lasts longest when used correctly. Wool felt is strong but not indestructible. Due to repeated pressure and friction, thin spots or holes may appear over time.
How quickly wear becomes visible varies greatly per person. Some people wear the same pair for years, while with very intensive daily use, wear can sometimes occur within about six months. Your walking style, the fit, the surface, and protruding toes or nails all have an influence on this.
Normal wear is not a manufacturing defect and is therefore not covered by the warranty. Check the wool felt occasionally at the toes, heels, and sides. Do you see a thin spot forming? Don't wait until there is a large hole, but see if you can have it repaired in time.
The leather sole will also wear out during use. Whether a sole can be repaired or replaced depends on the location and the extent of the wear. Feel free to contact us before you write off your favourite pair. We are happy to help you.
How do you keep Charcoal Glerups clean?
Wool naturally has self-cleaning properties. Usually, it is sufficient to air your slippers regularly and give them a day of rest occasionally.
You can carefully dab a small stain on the wool felt with a slightly damp cloth and a little suitable wool detergent. Do not get the entire bootie wet and let it dry slowly at room temperature. Never put wet Glerups on or directly next to a heater.
You can carefully brush the leather sole with a suitable leather brush. Use as little water as possible so that the leather stays supple and beautiful.
Never put Glerups in a standard washing machine or dryer. Heat, water, and friction can cause the wool felt to shrink or deform, and the leather sole can be damaged. Do you want to know why wool needs so little washing? Watch our video about the special properties of wool.
