Why are the HIRSCH NATUR SUNSET socks so special?

We have been selling pure wool socks from HIRSCH NATUR for a long time and wanted something you wouldn't find in every other store. That's why we have several color combinations made especially and exclusively for Natur-el.

SUNSET is our newest warm color mix. The dark brown forms a calm base, and running through it is a beautiful Norwegian pattern in shades of pink, red, orange, yellow, and small light accents. So, not your standard winter sock, but one that makes us happy the moment it peeks out from above a shoe.

And because this combination is made especially for us, we are the only store in the world where you can buy these specific HIRSCH NATUR SUNSET socks.

Are these Norwegian socks really made of 100% wool?

Yes, absolutely. The knit consists of 100% organic KBT wool. We think it is important to mention this, because with many socks labeled "wool socks" in big letters, reading the label reveals that they contain a significant amount of polyester, polyamide, or other synthetic fibers.

Not so with these HIRSCH NATUR socks. You choose the qualities of pure natural wool: warm, breathable, moisture-wicking, and wonderfully cozy.

Only tiny elastic threads are incorporated into the cuff to ensure the sock stays in place. These do not touch the skin. The cuff also fits comfortably and is not excessively tight.

Why are 100% wool socks so great for cold feet?

Anyone who regularly suffers from cold feet knows how much difference a good pair of socks can make. Wool is naturally incredibly good at retaining and regulating heat. At the same time, the material can breathe and absorb moisture.

This makes these warm wool socks for women and men wonderful for cold days, at home on the couch, during a walk, or just every day in your shoes. And warm feet really make a world of difference when you get cold easily.

Which size HIRSCH NATUR socks should I choose?

Please note: the pure wool socks from HIRSCH NATUR run quite large. Are you in doubt between two sizes? Always choose the smaller one.

For example, if you wear size 39/40, we usually recommend size 38/39. If you are around size 40/42, opt for 40/41. Moreover, wool can stretch slightly while being worn.

A wool sock that is too large is not only annoying because it can bunch up: when your foot slides inside the sock or shoe, extra friction is created. And that friction is a key factor with pure wool socks.

Do 100% wool socks get holes?

YES. Pure wool socks can get holes. We prefer to be very clear about that rather than pretending it's not the case.

These socks consist of pure wool and are not reinforced with synthetic fibers like polyamide. That is exactly why we like them so much, but it also means they are more vulnerable to wear and tear. Wool is a natural fiber, and due to the constant friction of your foot against your shoe, the material will eventually thin out.

This happens faster for some than for others. Some customers wear their wool socks for several winters, while someone else might discover a thin spot much sooner. Your walking style, shoes, fit, and how much you wear the socks all play a role here.

A hole caused by wear and tear is therefore not a manufacturing defect and is not covered by the warranty.

How do I make my wool socks last longer?

Rotate, rotate, rotate! Give pure wool a break after wearing, and it is better to wear several pairs in rotation. Also, make sure you have well-fitting shoes in which your foot does not slide.

And perhaps our most important tip: do not wait until there is a hole in them. Check the heel, toes, and ball of your foot regularly. Do you see the knit starting to get thin? That is the moment to darn or reinforce your sock.

We have written an extensive blog about this where we explain why wool socks wear out, where the first thin spots usually appear, and what you can do about it:

Read our blog: HELP! I have a hole in my wool sock

Fortunately, a small hole does not mean your sock is done for. Wool can be repaired beautifully. Darn a thin spot in time, and you can often enjoy your favorite pair for a very long time.

Do you have to wash pure wool socks after every wear?

No, please don't! One of the great properties of wool is that you hardly ever need to wash it. Wool is less prone to odors and has natural self-cleaning properties. Simply hang your SUNSET socks out after wearing and give them a break.

Do you still want to wash them? Use the wool cycle on your machine, at a low temperature and with a low spin speed. Also, always use a special wool detergent containing lanolin, such as LANALICIOUS wool detergent for wool and silk. No regular detergent, no fabric softener, and absolutely no tumble drying.

What does KBT wool mean?

KBT stands for kontrolliert biologische Tierhaltung, or controlled organic animal husbandry. These socks are also GOTS certified and are produced by HIRSCH NATUR in Germany.

So, you are not only buying a pair of strikingly beautiful Norwegian socks, but also socks for which a conscious choice was made for organic wool and a more transparent way of production.

Where can the HIRSCH NATUR SUNSET socks be bought?

This color can only be found at Natur-el. SUNSET 030 563 was curated especially for us and is part of our collection of exclusive HIRSCH NATUR colors. We are the only store in the world where this specific color combination is available.

And we are secretly quite proud of that. Because if you choose pure wool socks made of 100% organic wool, they might as well be incredibly beautiful as far as we are concerned.

SUNSET: warm feet, pure wool, and a color combination you won't encounter anywhere else.

Wol is fantastisch

And just like that, you were gone!

Was koud of lauw
