Thick wool socks for cold feet

Model 030 is one of the thicker Norwegian wool socks from HIRSCH NATUR. Nice and warm, but wool has the wonderful talent of retaining heat without instantly turning your feet into two little saunas. Wool breathes, absorbs moisture, and helps keep your feet at a natural temperature.

These socks are wonderful in boots, hiking shoes, and other shoes with enough room. They are also nice for home, but be sure to wear slippers over them. Shuffling through the house in just socks might look cozy, but for pure wool, a hard floor is roughly what sandpaper is to your favorite sweater. What a waste!

What size should I choose?

HIRSCH NATUR socks run nice and large. If you are between two combined sizes, usually choose the smaller size. For example, do you have shoe size 39 or 40? Then sock size 38/39 often fits best. For shoe size 41 or 42, you usually choose 40/41.

A well-fitting sock is not only more comfortable but also generally lasts longer. A sock that is too big can crease or slide, causing extra friction. And even the most beautiful wool sock doesn't like that.

100% organic wool, without sneaky synthetic toes/heels

The foot section of these socks consists of 100% organic wool. There is no nylon or synthetic reinforcement knitted into the heel, toe, or sole. Only very fine elastic threads are incorporated into the top cuff so that the sock stays up better. These threads are embedded in the knit and do not come into direct contact with the skin.

The wool comes from controlled organic animal husbandry, also known as kbT. In addition, the socks are GOTS-certified. This means that within the production chain, requirements apply to matters such as the processing of fibers, the use of chemicals, and working conditions.

How long do pure wool socks last?

We love 100% wool, but we also like being honest: pure wool socks are not indestructible. Because there is no nylon in the foot section, they can thin out faster than synthetically reinforced socks with heavy use.

Therefore, wear them in well-fitting shoes with a smooth interior, alternate your socks regularly, and keep an eye out for thin spots at the heel or ball of the foot from time to time. How do you wash wool socks?

Not too often, that's the good news. Wool cleans itself for a large part, and simply airing them out is often enough. Do the socks still need to be washed? Then use a proper wool wash cycle at a maximum of 30 degrees, a low spin speed, and a little bit of wool detergent with lanolin, such as Lanalicious.

Do not use fabric softener, do not put them in the dryer, and do not wring them out. After washing, gently pull them into shape and let them dry lying flat. This keeps them beautiful and soft for longer.
