The LANGERCHEN RISANA SENCHA is an elegant wool city parka in a calm, greyish shade of green. SENCHA sits somewhere between olive green and grey-green and combines beautifully with denim, black, brown, beige, and other natural colors. It is green, but the kind you won't get tired of after three weeks.

On the outside, you see organic wool, but between the wool and the soft cotton lining is a technical PU membrane. This makes the RISANA windproof, breathable, and water-repellent. All the practical features of an outdoor jacket, just in a much more elegant package.

SENCHA: green without the complexity

The color SENCHA is named after the famous Japanese green tea. For this jacket, that translates to a soft, muted green tone with a grey undertone. The color is less yellow than classic olive green and less cool than a true grey-green shade.

This makes SENCHA almost like a neutral color. It makes a simple outfit just a bit more interesting without screaming for attention. That’s also nice.

The technical inside of this wool jacket

The organic wool retains heat and can absorb moisture without quickly feeling clammy. The lining is made of soft organic cotton jersey. Between these two layers is a thin polyurethane membrane.

This membrane blocks cold wind, protects against rain, and gives the wool fabric extra stability. As a result, the RISANA keeps its shape better, even when you wear it often or cycle in it. At the same time, body heat and perspiration can be wicked away.

Polyurethane is a synthetic material and is not biodegradable. LangerChen uses it specifically as a functional middle layer. The rest of the jacket consists largely of organic materials, and the model is made to be worn for years.

Water-repellent, but not a raincoat

The fabric has a water column of 8,000 mm and can handle a normal rain shower well. However, the seams are not taped. During prolonged or very heavy rain, moisture may eventually seep in through the stitching.

The RISANA SENCHA is therefore very suitable for daily use in changeable weather, but is not intended as a fully waterproof raincoat.

Hood and two-way zipper

The high collar flows into a fixed hood and helps protect your head and neck from wind and light rain. You can close the front extra securely with the hidden snap buttons, while the jacket retains its clean look.

The YKK zipper can also be opened from the bottom. On a bike, you can unzip the bottom part to give your legs more freedom of movement while the top remains closed.

Please note: RISANA runs relatively small

The RISANA has a feminine, fairly fitted silhouette and is relatively narrow, especially around the hips. I am wearing size L in the photo and normally wear a size 40/42. The jacket fits me well, but is clearly fitted around my hips.

My advice is therefore: choose your usual size if you want to wear the jacket fitted. Do you have wider hips, want to be able to wear a thick winter sweater underneath, or are you between two sizes? Then definitely take a size up. This size advice applies to all colors of the RISANA model.

How to care for your RISANA SENCHA

Let the jacket air out regularly and wash it as little as possible. Remove dry dirt carefully with a soft clothing brush. Small stains can be dabbed locally with a clean, slightly damp cloth.

Did the jacket get wet? Let it dry on a wide hanger at room temperature. For a full cleaning, always follow the wash label and do not use fabric softener, bleach, or aggressive stain removers.
