The LANGERCHEN RISANA PLATINUM is an elegant wool city parka in a heathered gray tone with a subtle gray-green undertone. Softer than anthracite, more exciting than plain gray, and exceptionally easy to combine with black, navy, denim, and natural colors.

RISANA looks like a beautiful wool coat, but features the technical properties of a practical outdoor jacket. Between the organic wool and the soft cotton lining is a thin PU membrane that makes the coat windproof, breathable, and water-repellent.

Wool on the outside, technical on the inside

The outer shell of the RISANA is made of organic wool. Wool retains heat while simultaneously helping to wick away moisture and excess heat. The interior is lined with soft organic cotton jersey.

Between these layers is a thin polyurethane membrane. This layer blocks cold wind, offers protection against rain, and helps prevent the wool fabric from sagging due to intensive use. This is very useful if you cycle a lot and prefer not to carry the imprint of your saddle on your coat for the rest of the day.

The membrane is synthetic and therefore not biodegradable. LangerChen uses it very specifically as a technical middle layer. The combination of organic materials, strong construction, and a timeless design ensures that the RISANA is intended to be worn for years to come.

Is the RISANA rain-resistant?

The fabric has a water column of 8,000 mm and can handle a light to moderate rain shower well. However, the RISANA is not a completely waterproof raincoat because the seams are not taped. During prolonged or very heavy rain, moisture may eventually penetrate through the seams.

For everyday use, cycling through the city, and unexpected showers, the coat offers excellent protection. For standing outside in pouring rain for hours on end, we would recommend wearing something else.

Hood, high collar, and cycling zipper

The high-closing collar transitions into a fixed hood, protecting your head and neck from wind and light rain. The concealed snap buttons keep the front looking clean, allowing the coat to maintain its elegant appearance.

The YKK zipper can also be opened from the bottom. This gives your legs more freedom of movement while cycling, while the top of the coat remains closed. No struggling at every traffic light and no need to cycle through headwind with a completely open coat.

Fit and our sizing advice

The RISANA has a feminine and fairly slim fit. I wear size L in this model and am normally a size 40/42. The coat fits me nicely but is quite close-fitting. Because I have slightly wider hips, I notice especially there that the RISANA does not run overly large.

Our advice for all RISANA models is therefore: generally, choose your usual size. Do you have wider hips, do you want to wear a thick sweater under the coat, or are you between two sizes? Then it is better to choose a size larger. After all, a winter coat should remain comfortable when you move, sit, and cycle.

How to care for RISANA PLATINUM

Air the coat out regularly and wash it as little as possible. Dry dirt can be carefully removed with a soft clothing brush. Treat small stains locally with a clean, slightly damp cloth.

Has the coat gotten wet? Hang it on a wide hanger and let it dry slowly at room temperature. For a full cleaning, always follow the care label and do not use fabric softener, bleach, or aggressive stain removers.
