LANGERCHEN long wool trench coat MILPORT NIGHT

The LANGERCHEN MILPORT NIGHT is a long wool coat for women in a very deep dark blue color. NIGHT is darker than NAVY and clearly deeper than STEEL BLUE. Indoors or in low light, the color can appear almost black, but in daylight, the blue undertone remains beautifully visible.

Hidden beneath the elegant wool exterior is a surprisingly technical coat. A thin PU membrane blocks cold wind and protects against rain, while the organic cotton jersey lining feels soft and comfortable. It is technically smart, yet without the usual outdoor jacket vibe involving shiny fabrics and an excess of zippers.

NIGHT, NAVY, or STEEL BLUE?

NIGHT is the darkest of these three blue shades. NAVY is classic dark blue, and STEEL BLUE is lighter and more of a mottled blue-grey. NIGHT is a shade deeper, which makes it easy to wear as an alternative to black.

The color pairs with almost everything but looks slightly softer than true black. Ideal if you are looking for a versatile winter coat that fits your entire wardrobe without everything automatically becoming black.

Natural materials with technical protection

The exterior of the MILPORT consists of organic wool. Wool retains heat, breathes, and helps wick away moisture. The lining is made of soft organic cotton jersey.

Between these two layers is a thin polyurethane membrane. This makes the fabric windproof and water-repellent while giving the long wool coat extra stability. As a result, MILPORT retains its shape better, even with intensive wear and cycling.

PU is a synthetic material and is not biodegradable. LangerChen uses it very purposefully as a functional middle layer. The coat combines this with organic materials, a PFC-free finish, and a sturdy construction intended to last for years.

Suitable for rain, but not a rain jacket

MILPORT can handle a regular rain shower just fine. The wool, water-repellent finish, and membrane help prevent rain from soaking through the fabric.

However, the seams are not taped. In the event of prolonged or very heavy rain, moisture may eventually seep in through the stitching. It remains a wool winter coat with good protection against changeable weather, rather than a fully waterproof rain jacket.

A long coat that also works on a bike

The YKK zipper can be opened from both the top and the bottom. When cycling, you can unzip the bottom, allowing your legs enough freedom of movement while keeping your upper body protected.

The adjustable hood, high collar, and hidden snap buttons keep wind and light rain out. The pockets are discreetly incorporated into the seams, and there is a closable zippered pocket on the inside.

Fit and sizing advice

MILPORT has a long, feminine fit with seams that allow the coat to fall beautifully along the body. I am wearing size L in this model and am normally a size 40/42.

In principle, choose your usual size and consider what you want to wear underneath the coat. If you want to wear a thick sweater in the dead of winter, check if you have enough room around your chest, shoulders, and upper arms.

How to care for MILPORT NIGHT

Air the coat out regularly and wash it as little as possible. Remove dry dirt carefully with a soft clothing brush and treat small stains locally with a slightly damp cloth.

Has the coat become wet? Hang it on a wide hanger and let it dry slowly at room temperature. For a full cleaning, always follow the wash label and do not use fabric softener, bleach, or aggressive stain removers.
