LangerChen wool trench coat winter jacket with membrane MILPORT

LANGERCHEN long wool winter coat for women MILPORT

This long sustainable wool coat is truly genius! If I were to tell you just the technical details, you'd almost think it was one of those super-practical outdoor jackets. You know, with those little pockets, and little zippers, and material that is the absolute bomb. But made of plastic. Not this one. This one is just as genius, but made from fair and natural materials.

Want to know more about this wool coat? Do you have a moment?

This elegant wool trench coat is fantastic simply for its minimalist design and details like raw-cut edges and a concealed snap-button closure. The organic wool used for the outer layer has a naturally water-repellent function. That’s thanks to the oily layer that wool possesses by nature. We call that lanolin: handy!

A sustainable wool trench coat that is windproof: HOW?

There is a membrane between the outer layer and the lining. This membrane makes the coat as genius as those outdoor jackets I mentioned. It is made of polyurethane, which makes the coat windproof and gives the material stability without losing its elasticity. Normally, wool has a tendency to sag, or keep the shape of your saddle if you cycle a lot, for example. Which is something you can do very well in this coat.

This awesome coat is water-repellent and can handle a "regular" rain shower just fine. But it is not a raincoat: so if you walk through a downpour, the seams might get wet. This coat is not a raincoat, after all. If your coat has gotten wet, just hang it inside out on a hanger overnight: it will be dry again in no time!

The lining of this sustainable trench coat is made of 100% organic cotton jersey.

So no scary sweaty fabrics, like (here we go again) the well-known outdoor jackets have. Furthermore, this coat is much more elegant, and that color, oh that color! Anyway, you get it: we are huge fans of Langerchen.

Furthermore, this fantastic and sustainable coat also features:

- High-closing collar with 2-way YKK zipper

- Zipper (which can zip down and from bottom to top, so it doesn't matter that it's long and you want to cycle to work as usual)

- Concealed snap-button closure

- Seams with inset pockets

- Inner pocket with zipper

- Ventilation eyelets under the arm

- LangerChen "Tone on Tone" logo on left arm

Sounds good or sounds great? Alright then! Place your order!

Why does my LangerChen coat have a membrane?
You can't see it, but it's there: a very thin layer of polyurethane (PU) incorporated into the coat. We call that layer a membrane, and it is actually the secret superpower of your coat.

What does it do? Very simple: rain and wind cannot get through, but your own warmth and perspiration can escape. This way, you stay dry on the outside and the inside. So you don't get that stifling "raincoat feeling."

Why polyurethane?
I hear you thinking: "But PU, isn't that plastic?" Correct. LangerChen consciously chooses this because the alternatives are often even worse for people and the environment. Think of Gore-Tex or other membranes with fluorocarbons (PFCs) – those are practically indestructible, but unfortunately also toxic to nature. Polyurethane is currently the most responsible choice for making a coat durably waterproof, without walking around with harmful substances.

How sustainable is that?
A PU membrane is not biodegradable, but because LangerChen works with sturdy, timeless fabrics and top-quality finishing, you will wear the coat for years. And that is what makes the difference: one good coat that you wear for ten years is many times more sustainable than three fast-fashion rain jackets that fall apart after one season.

How do you care for such a coat?

  • Wash as little as possible (that saves wear and energy).

  • Use a mild, ecological detergent.

  • Just hang the coat up to dry after a rain shower; that is usually enough.

This way, your membrane continues to work optimally and keeps your coat looking great.

And just like that, you were gone!
