FLOMAX wool knee and elbow patches RUST
A worn-out elbow or knee fortunately doesn't mean your favorite item of clothing has to be written off. With these wool repair patches from FLOMAX, you can reinforce the damaged area and continue wearing your sweater, cardigan, or trousers to your heart's content. Because repairing clothing is almost always a better idea than replacing it – especially when the rest of the garment is still in great shape.
The patches are made of 100% organic wool, are IVN BEST-certified, and feature a sturdy boiled wool quality. This version comes in the color RUST: a warm orange-brown hue that combines beautifully with brown, beige, denim, dark green, burgundy, and other autumn colors.
We have these wool knee and elbow patches in a total of seven colors. This allows you to choose a color that blends in almost invisibly with the garment or to turn the repair into a visible detail.

A second life for well-worn clothing
Anyone who wears a lot of wool knows that the material can eventually wear down. The elbows of sweaters and cardigans in particular endure a lot of friction. For trousers, it is usually the knees that thin out first.
With these patches, you don't have to put such an item at the back of your closet or throw it away. You cover the damaged spot, reinforce the fabric, and extend the lifespan of your clothing. That saves resources and ensures you get to enjoy something that is already part of your wardrobe for longer.
By the way, you don't have to wait until a full hole appears. Do you notice the fabric getting thin? Apply the patch ahead of time. Reinforcing a worn spot preventively is usually easier than repairing it once your elbow is already enthusiastically poking through.
How to sew on the patch
Place the patch generously over the damaged area and pin it in place. You may want to try on the garment to ensure the patch is positioned correctly when you bend your elbow or knee.
Then sew the patch on around the edges by hand or with a sewing machine. Use thread in a similar color for a subtle result, or consciously choose a contrasting thread to turn the repair into a visible style detail. Is the hole already a bit larger? Secure the loose edges with a few stitches first before sewing the patch over them.
RUST: a repair that deserves to be seen
This warm rust color pairs beautifully with natural wool colors and makes a simple sweater or pair of trousers just that little bit more lively. On dark blue jeans, green wool trousers, or a brown cardigan, the repair becomes a striking detail. On clothing in rust and orange tones, the patch blends in beautifully.
A repaired garment doesn't have to be perfect or invisible. It shows that clothing has value and doesn't need to be replaced at the first sign of wear. Moreover, such a warm wool patch can make your old favorite even more charming.
Care after repairing
After attaching the patch, always follow the washing instructions for the garment on which you have applied it. Fortunately, wool clothing rarely needs washing. Thorough airing out is often enough.
Does the garment still need to be washed? Choose a wool wash cycle at a low temperature and use a low spin speed. Wash with a suitable wool detergent, such as our LANALICIOUS wool and silk detergent, and preferably let the garment dry flat.
Does the wool develop small pills over time? You can carefully remove them with a Gleener fabric shaver. Use a suitable fine attachment head and work extra carefully along the edges and the stitching of the patch.
