FLOMAX wool knee and elbow patches POPPY RED
A hole in your favorite wool sweater or worn-out knees in your trousers? You could look for something new, of course. But you can also simply repair the garment and enjoy it for years to come. With these wool repair patches from FLOMAX, you reinforce the damaged area and add a new detail to your clothing.
The patches are made of 100% organic wool, are IVN BEST certified, and feature a sturdy boiled wool quality. The POPPY RED color is a warm, vibrant red that is meant to be seen. It looks beautiful on red and burgundy, but also creates a lovely contrast against denim, dark blue, gray, black, or natural tones.
We offer these wool knee and elbow patches in seven colors. This allows you to either let the repair blend in subtly with the garment or turn it into an eye-catching feature.

A hole is not the end of the story
Wool is wonderful to wear, but it remains a natural product. Frequent use and friction can eventually cause elbows and knees to thin out. Fortunately, this does not mean the entire garment is worn out.
With a patch, you cover the hole and reinforce the surrounding fabric. This way, that fine wool sweater, cardigan, or comfortable pair of trousers can get back into your daily rotation. Repairing prevents unnecessary waste and ensures you get more use out of the clothes you already own.
You can also use the patches preventively. Do you notice a spot starting to thin out? Don't wait until a large hole appears. By reinforcing the fabric in time, you make the eventual repair much simpler.
POPPY RED: visible mending
With this color, you don't have to pretend that nothing ever happened to your garment. POPPY RED turns the repair into a cheerful style detail. On dark blue or black, the warm red stands out beautifully, while on a red or burgundy background, it blends in more quietly with the rest.
You can secure the patch with red thread for a harmonious result. Do you want to fully embrace visible mending? Then choose a contrasting thread. Clothing doesn't have to stay immaculately new to be beautiful – sometimes a favorite piece becomes even more special because of the marks of wear.
How to attach the patches
Place the patch well over the worn area and secure it temporarily with pins. Then try on the garment and bend your knee or elbow. This allows you to check if the patch is in exactly the right place and provides enough freedom of movement.
Next, sew it on all around, either by hand or with a sewing machine. If the hole is already somewhat large, secure the loose edges with a few stitches first. This prevents the damage from tearing further under the patch.
The patches are not iron-on and must be sewn on. This takes a little more time, but it results in a sturdier and more durable repair.
Care for your repaired clothing
After application, always follow the washing instructions for the original garment. Usually, you do not need to wash wool clothing very often. It is better to air it out regularly; that is better for the fibers and for the repair.
Is washing necessary? Use a wool wash cycle at a low temperature and with a low spin speed. Wash with a suitable wool detergent, such as our LANALICIOUS wool and silk detergent, and preferably let the garment dry flat.
Does the wool develop some pilling over time? Use a Gleener fabric shaver carefully. Choose the appropriate fine attachment head and work extra slowly around the stitching and edges of the patch.
