Welcome to the world of our thick wool socks! And when I say wool, I mean 100% wool... So, no synthetic additives that only make your feet stink. We only have wool socks, made from 100% pure and organic wool. These beautiful socks are the thickest wool socks we have. They only come in solid colors: unfortunately, no patterns for thick-wool-sock lovers. How thick are these socks exactly? Think of old-fashioned wool socks, and that thickness is about right. I don't wear them in my shoes myself, but in bed. However, there are plenty of people who do... I personally find them more suitable for wearing in boots or clogs :-) Unless you buy your winter shoes nice and roomy. They do fit in my sneakers, for example. But if you are really looking for socks to wear in shoes, I would sooner go for the Norwegian socks. Fair is fair.

So if you are hesitating between 2 sizes, we definitely recommend choosing the smaller size. Example: do you wear size 39/40? Then choose size 38/39. Do you wear size 40/42, choose 40/41. Wool socks often get a bit looser when you wear them. It is annoying if wool socks bunch up because they are too loose. If in doubt, you can always contact us.

You don't need to wash pure and 100% wool socks.

Wool has the fantastic property of being self-cleaning,
so hang them out for a night and you can just wear them again the next day! That sounds like magic? It isn't... It is simply one of the beautiful properties that wool possesses.

Do you want to know exactly how this "no washing" works? We made a nice and informative vlog in which this is explained. You can find it here. Would you like to wash them anyway? Then ALWAYS do so on a wool wash cycle with a wool detergent that contains lanolin. Wool shrinks due to temperature fluctuations, not heat. A wool wash cycle stays at the same temperature throughout, making the chance of shrinkage very small. Wool wash at a low temperature and as low a spin speed as possible.

Pure wool socks wear out!

Even yours: There is absolutely nothing you can do about it... And it can happen faster than you think. That pure wool socks wear out is because our socks, unlike 99% of all other "wool socks" sold, really contain no synthetic yarns. This makes the wool a lot more vulnerable to wear. We therefore recommend alternating your socks regularly and purchasing multiple pairs. Always wear them in well-fitting shoes in which you do not "slide". That significantly speeds up the wearing process. For some it happens after just a few days, while others can wear them all winter. Fortunately, wool socks are easy to darn; in our webshop, you will find darning wool, darning needles, darning eggs, and darning mushrooms. Check your socks after every wear to see if they have become thin. Typical spots are at the toes, under the ball of your foot, or at the heels. Do this in time so the pure wool socks don't start to unravel. We also wrote an extensive blog about this with tips and tricks to extend the lifespan of your socks: you can't really prevent it.
