Welcome to the world of our thick wool socks! And when I say wool, I mean 100% wool... So, no synthetic additives that just make your feet smell. We only carry wool socks made of 100% pure and organic wool. These beautiful socks are the thickest wool socks we have. They only come in solid colors: unfortunately, no patterns for thick-wool-sock lovers. How thick are these socks exactly? Think of old-fashioned wool socks, that kind of thickness, and you're pretty much there. I don't wear them in my shoes myself, but in bed. However, there are plenty of people who do... Personally, I think they are better suited for boots or clogs :-) Unless you buy your winter shoes with plenty of room. In my sneakers, for example, they do fit. But if you are really looking for socks to wear in shoes, I would rather go for the Norwegian socks. Honestly.

So, if you are torn between 2 sizes, we definitely advise you to choose the smaller size. Example: do you wear size 39/40? Then choose size 38/39. Do you wear size 40/42, choose 40/41. Wool socks often get a bit looser as you wear them. It is annoying when wool socks bunch up because they are too loose. If in doubt, you can always contact us.

You don't need to wash pure and 100% wool socks.

Wool has the fantastic property of being self-cleaning,
so just hang them out overnight, and you can wear them again the next day! Sounds like magic? It isn't... It's simply one of the wonderful properties that wool possesses.

Want to know exactly how this "no-wash" thing works? We made a nice and informative vlog explaining this. You can find it here. Do you still want to wash them? Then ALWAYS use a wool wash program with a wool detergent containing lanolin. Wool shrinks due to temperature fluctuations, not heat. A wool wash program maintains the same temperature throughout, making the risk of shrinkage very small. Use a wool wash at a low temperature and the lowest possible spin speed.

Pure wool socks wear out!

Yours will too: There is absolutely nothing you can do about it... And it can happen faster than you think. The fact that pure wool socks wear out is because our socks, unlike 99% of all other "wool socks" sold, really do not contain any synthetic yarns. This makes the wool a lot more vulnerable to wear and tear. We therefore recommend rotating your socks regularly and buying multiple pairs. Always wear them in well-fitting shoes where your feet don't "slide". That significantly accelerates the wearing process. For some, it happens after a few days, while others can wear them for winters. Fortunately, wool socks are easy to darn; in our webshop, you will find darning wool, darning needles, darning eggs, and darning mushrooms. Check your socks after every wear to see if they have become thin. Typical areas are the toes, under the ball of your foot, or at the heels. Do this in time so the pure wool socks don't start to unravel. We also wrote an extensive blog about this with tips and tricks to extend the lifespan of your socks: you can't really prevent it.
