Welcome to the world of our thick wool socks! And when I say wool, I mean 100% wool... So, no synthetic additives that only make your feet smell. We only have wool socks, made from 100% pure and organic wool. These lovely socks are the thickest wool socks we have. They only come in solid colors: unfortunately no patterns for thick-wool-sock lovers. Just how thick are these socks? Think of old-fashioned wool socks, and that's about the thickness you're looking at. I don't wear them in my shoes myself, but in bed. However, there are plenty of people who do... I personally find them more suitable for boots or clogs :-) Unless you buy your winter shoes with plenty of room. They do fit in my sneakers, for example. But, if you are really looking for socks to wear in shoes, I would sooner recommend our Norwegian socks. Fair is fair.

So if you are doubting between two sizes, we definitely recommend choosing the smaller size. Example: do you wear size 39/40? Then choose size 38/39. Do you wear size 40/42, then choose 40/41. Wool socks often get a bit looser as you wear them. It is annoying if wool socks bunch up because they are too loose. If in doubt, you can always contact us.

You don't have to wash pure and 100% wool socks.

Wool has the fantastic property of being self-cleaning,
so just hang them out overnight, and you can put them back on the next day! That sounds like magic? It isn't... It is simply one of the wonderful properties that wool possesses.

Do you want to know how this "not washing" thing works exactly? We made a nice and informative vlog in which this is explained. You can find it here. Do you still want to wash them? Then ALWAYS do so on a wool wash cycle with a wool detergent that contains lanolin. Wool shrinks due to temperature fluctuations, not heat. A wool wash cycle maintains the same temperature throughout, which makes the chance of shrinking very small. Use a low-temperature wool cycle and the lowest possible spin speed.

Pure wool socks wear out!

Yours too: There is absolutely nothing you can do about it... And it can happen faster than you think. The fact that pure wool socks wear out is because our socks, unlike 99% of all other "wool socks" sold, really do not contain any synthetic yarns. This makes the wool a lot more vulnerable to wear and tear. We therefore recommend that you rotate your socks regularly and purchase multiple pairs. Always wear them in well-fitting shoes where you don't "slide." That significantly accelerates the wear process. Some people see it happen after just a few days, while others can last through winter. Fortunately, wool socks are easy to darn; in our webshop, you will find darning wool, darning needles, darning eggs, and darning mushrooms. Check your socks after every wear to see if they have become thin. Typical spots are at the toes, under the ball of your foot, or at the heels. Do this in time so the pure wool socks don't start fraying open. We also wrote an extensive blog about this with tips and tricks to extend the lifespan of your socks: you can't really prevent it.
