All about this product

Norwegian wool socks in the colors of a fairy-tale forest

Fairy Woods: just the name of this color makes us happy. These Norwegian socks from Hirsch Natur combine various forest tones with soft blue, natural, and subtle pink accents. The knitted pattern is reminiscent of a fairy-tale forest where there is always something new to discover.

The socks are made in Germany from 100% certified organic virgin wool, without the addition of synthetic fibers. Pure wool is warm, breathable, and much less prone to absorbing odors. This keeps your feet wonderfully cozy without feeling clammy.

Model 030 is one of our classic Norwegian wool socks. It is a slightly sturdier and warmer model than our thin 156 socks. Therefore, please keep in mind that these socks take up a little more room in your shoes. They are wonderful in roomier shoes, boots, and slippers, but also simply lovely for at home.

Fairy Woods is one of the various color combinations of model 030. The other colors are linked together on the product page, so you can easily choose your favorite.

Warm feet make everything just a little bit better

Anyone who has ever lain on the couch or in bed with cold feet knows how much of a difference a pair of warm socks can make. If your feet are warm, the rest of your body often feels much more comfortable too.

We regularly hear from customers that our pure wool socks help them relax more easily in the evening and fall asleep more comfortably. Some customers even tell us that they feel more rested the next day as a result. This is, of course, a personal experience and not a promise, but it does show how much difference warm feet can make for your daily comfort.

The wool forms a soft, insulating layer around your feet. At the same time, the material continues to breathe and helps regulate heat and moisture. That is precisely why pure wool socks are a staple in many customers' autumn and winter wardrobes.

Which wool socks are right for you?

Are you unsure between our thin and thick socks, plain models, Norwegian socks, or hiking socks? In our complete wool sock selection guide, we clearly explain the differences. This makes it easier to find the right socks for your shoes, usage, and warmth needs.

Hirsch Natur wool socks run large

Hirsch Natur socks generally run large. Are you between two sizes? Then choose the smaller size.

For example, if you wear shoe size 39/40, we recommend size 38/39. If you wear size 40/42, choose size 40/41. Additionally, wool can stretch slightly while being worn. Socks that are too large can bunch or fold, which is less comfortable and can cause extra friction.

In the top centimeters of the cuff, there are tiny elastic threads that help prevent the socks from slipping down. These elastics are on the outside of the knit and do not touch the skin. The cuff is not extremely tight, which means the socks can also be pleasant if you are prone to indentations around your ankles.

Are you unsure about the right size or the best model? Please feel free to contact us. We know the socks and are happy to help you choose.

You don't need to wash wool socks very often

Wool has natural self-cleaning and odor-resistant properties. As a result, you usually don't need to wash these socks nearly as often as cotton or synthetic socks. Hang them out to air overnight after wearing, and you can often put them right back on the next day.

Want to know how exactly that works? Check out our explanation on airing and washing wool.

Do your socks need to be washed anyway? Use the wool cycle on your washing machine and a suitable wool detergent. We recommend Lanalicious wool detergent with lanolin. This cleans the wool gently and helps maintain its natural properties.

Wash at a low temperature, spin at the lowest possible speed, and do not use fabric softener. Wool can felt or shrink due to a combination of moisture, movement, and temperature fluctuations. Let the socks air dry quietly and do not put them in the dryer.

Do not wear pure wool socks without shoes or slippers

The temptation is great to walk around the house in these warm socks, but always wear them indoors inside well-fitting slippers or house shoes. If you wear 100% wool socks directly on the floor, a lot of friction is created, and they can wear out faster. Wool socks can also be slippery on smooth floors, so be careful on stairs.

A good fit is also important in shoes. In shoes that are too spacious, your foot will slide, while shoes that are too tight cause extra pressure and friction. Both can shorten the lifespan of your socks.

Pure wool socks can wear out

We like to be honest about this: 100% wool socks can wear out faster than socks that have synthetic yarns added. That is part of choosing a completely natural product. In return, pure wool breathes wonderfully, regulates heat, and is very comfortable to wear.

How quickly socks wear out varies greatly per person. Therefore, regularly check the toes, heels, and the bottom of the ball of your foot. Do you see the wool starting to get thinner in one spot? Reinforce this spot with darning wool early. That is easier than waiting for a large hole to appear and prevents the knit from unraveling further.

Want to see how to do that? Watch our video: how to darn a hole in a wool sock.

Also, read our extensive article: Help, I have a hole in my wool sock.

Everything you need to repair your socks can be found in our darning wool and repair accessories collection.

Please note: we cannot provide a warranty for holes caused by normal wear and tear.

Wol is fantastisch

And just like that, you were gone!

Was koud of lauw
