The FLOMAX MERLE RUST is a warm wool skirt that you can combine with a surprising number of items in your wardrobe. The solid rust color is a warm, heathered shade of orange: colorful enough to add something to your outfit, but muted enough to be worn almost as a basic color.

The skirt is made of pure GOTS-certified organic wool in a sturdy boiled wool quality. It has a slight A-line shape, fits smoothly around the hips, and flares out slightly towards the bottom. There is a zipper at the back, making it easy to put on and take off.

What is boiled wool?

Boiled wool is made by letting knitted wool felt in a controlled manner. This creates a compact, sturdy fabric that is wonderfully warm and retains its shape well. At the same time, the wool retains its breathable and temperature-regulating properties. This makes this skirt especially great for autumn and winter, without the feeling that you have tied a wool blanket around your waist.

The fabric has a natural heathered texture. This gives the solid rust color more depth and clearly shows that it is real wool.

Pure GOTS-certified organic wool

GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard, which sets requirements for, among other things, the living conditions, feed, and care of the sheep. The MERLE is made of pure wool, without any synthetic fibers added.

Fit and sizing advice

The MERLE has a slight A-line shape. It fits snugly at the waist and hips and flares out subtly towards the hem. This makes the skirt feminine, but not tight or stiff. The vertical seam at the front enhances the calm, elongated line of the model.

The skirt fits true to size, so you should generally choose your usual size. In size M, the skirt is approximately 50 centimeters long. Where the hem ends exactly depends, of course, on your height and build. We have the MERLE in sizes XS through XL.

RUST: warm orange and surprisingly easy

RUST is a warm orange tone with a slightly heathered appearance. It combines beautifully with natural, cream, sand, brown, dark blue, petrol, and olive green. You can also create a wonderfully colorful outfit with burgundy or pink.

Wear the skirt with a simple turtleneck, a fine-knit cardigan, or a wool shirt. Underneath, you can wear nice wool tights, or one of our Engel leggings. This makes the skirt an excellent choice even on really cold days.

Three solid colors and plaids

We have the solid-colored MERLE in three colors: RUST, JEANS, and BURGUNDY. The same great model is also available in various plaid variants. Useful for those who fall in love with the fit and then decide that one skirt is, of course, a rather arbitrary number.

How to care for a boiled wool skirt

Fortunately, you don't have to wash wool often. Let the skirt air out regularly and gently brush off superficial dirt. A small stain can usually be treated locally with a slightly damp cloth.

Does the skirt need to be fully washed? Always follow the washing instructions on the garment. Use a suitable wool detergent, avoid large temperature differences, and let the skirt dry flat. Do not put it in the dryer and do not place it on a radiator. Boiled wool loves warmth when you are wearing it, but significantly less when it has to lie on it itself.
