The color Prelude
Prelude is a unique combination of petrol, teal, rust, ochre, red, olive green, and soft light blue. The dark base keeps all those colors perfectly balanced. The sweater is striking, but not loud. Colorful, yet still very easy to combine.
Wear it with jeans for a simple everyday outfit, with corduroy trousers for the ultimate autumn feel, or with smart trousers if you want to dress it up a bit. Because the knitting pattern has so much character, you don’t need to do much else. Nice trousers, good shoes, Kinross on, and you're ready. It looks like you put in a huge effort. It's wonderful when one sweater does all the work for you.
Scottish craftsmanship with a modern twist
ERIBÉ Knitwear is based in Melrose, Scotland, and has been making knitwear since 1986, giving traditional Scottish patterns a fresh, modern look. The Kinross is inspired by classic Fair Isle and Shetland knitting patterns but executed in unexpected color combinations.
The loose yarn floats on the inside of the Fair Isle knit trap tiny layers of air. This provides extra warmth without the sweater having to be heavy or bulky.
The merino lambswool used is RWS-certified, fully traceable, and guaranteed mulesing-free. RWS stands for Responsible Wool Standard and sets requirements for animal welfare and the management of the land where the sheep live. The wool is spun in Scotland, and the Kinross sweater is made there as well.
How does the ERIBÉ Kinross sweater fit?
According to ERIBÉ, the Kinross has a regular fit and is true to size. In the photo, I am wearing a size M, and I normally wear a size 40. Personally, I like this sweater best when it’s a bit more fitted. Size L also fits me but is roomier and more relaxed.
Do you want a polished, slightly more fitted look? Then choose your usual size. Do you like an oversized look or want to easily wear a blouse or long-sleeve underneath? Then you can choose a size up.
Always check the size chart with the photos before ordering. Measuring is knowing – and it avoids a lot of doubt and return hassle. Still in doubt? Feel free to call or email us; we’ll happily measure the sweater for you.
Does merino lambswool feel soft?
The Kinross is knitted from super-fine merino lambswool. ERIBÉ describes the quality as almost cashmere-like: very soft, supple, and light. You can really feel that the moment you pick up the sweater.
How wool feels against the skin is, of course, personal. Are you very sensitive to wool? Then wear a thin cotton or wool-silk shirt underneath, or come and try the sweater on with us first.
How to care for your ERIBÉ sweater
Fortunately, you almost never have to wash wool. Let the sweater air out after wearing; that’s usually enough. Washing less is better for the wool, better for the color, and a lot less work. We can all get behind that.
Is washing necessary after all? Then a gentle hand wash is the safest choice. Use lukewarm water and a small amount of Lanalicious wool detergent with lanolin. Do not rub, wring, or subject it to sudden temperature changes.
Gently roll the wet sweater in a towel to absorb excess water. Then, reshape it and let it dry flat, away from a radiator or other direct heat source. The tumble dryer is, of course, strictly forbidden. Really. Don't even try it.
Wool and pilling: don't panic
Even high-quality wool can pill. Especially in areas where friction occurs, such as under the arms, at the elbows, or where your bag rubs against the sweater. This is a natural property of wool and does not automatically say anything about the quality.
Do not pull pills off with your fingers. Remove them carefully with a Gleener fabric shaver and always test on an inconspicuous spot first. If you treat the sweater well, it can remain one of the most beautiful pieces in your closet for years.
Don't buy if...
Are you looking for a smooth, solid basic without a pattern? Then the Kinross Prelude is probably not your sweater.
Are you looking for a soft, luxurious wool sweater with color, character, and real Scottish craftsmanship? Then this is exactly the kind of sweater you are going to be very happy with. A quick warning: there’s a very good chance you’ll want another color afterwards.
