ENGEL wool-silk leggings for women in grey
These grey wool-silk leggings from ENGEL Natur are a thin, soft base layer for days when your legs could use some extra warmth. Wear them under a dress or skirt, under regular trousers when it's truly cold, or together with a wool-silk shirt as comfortable pyjamas. The leggings fit closely without feeling bulky, making them easy to wear under your everyday clothes.
The fabric consists of 70% organic wool and 30% silk. The wool helps retain your body heat and can absorb moisture without feeling clammy. The silk makes the fabric smoother, more supple, and lighter. Together, they form a fine, jersey-like quality that moves comfortably with you and can be worn directly against the skin.

A thin, warm layer for your legs
These wool leggings are primarily intended as base layers. The fabric is not as thick or sturdy as regular trousers or sports leggings, but is exactly fine enough to wear under other clothing without extra volume. Under jeans, hiking trousers, or wide-leg trousers, you will hardly notice you are wearing an extra layer. You will, however, notice that your legs stay a lot cosier.
The leggings can also be worn visibly under a dress or skirt. Please keep in mind that this is a fine, underwear-grade quality. If you want to wear them as your only trousers, it is most logical to pair them with a longer shirt, dress, or tunic.
Wool-silk generally feels lighter, smoother, and softer than 100% wool. This makes these leggings suitable for daily use and for those who find thick woollen undergarments too warm. If you are specifically looking for maximum warmth for long periods outdoors or in very cold conditions, a thicker 100% wool quality is usually warmer.

Fit and size advice
The ENGEL Natur leggings have a slim, close-fitting cut. The wool-silk fabric is stretchy and moves comfortably with you, but is intended to fit closely to the body. This is ideal when you want to wear them under other trousers.
Are you between sizes or want to avoid the leggings feeling too tight at the waist, bottom, or thighs? Then choose the larger size. Vera usually wears a size 40/42 for bottoms and chooses size 42/44 for these leggings. This ensures they don't pinch anywhere and have sufficient length.

Honest information about stretching and wear
Wool and silk are beautiful natural fibres, but they are not indestructible. Due to movement, the fabric may become slightly looser around the knees over time. The addition of silk helps the leggings retain their shape better than some leggings made of 100% wool, but this cannot be completely prevented. After a day of rest, the fabric often regains some of its original shape.
Friction can also cause wear, especially between the thighs, under tight trousers, and in places where the fabric constantly rubs against a hard seam. If you wear wool leggings almost daily, it is wise to rotate them. This gives the fibres time to recover. Do you spot a small ladder or a thin patch? Repair it immediately, before a small hole decides to pursue a much larger life goal.
How to care for your wool-silk leggings
You do not need to wash the leggings after every use. Let them air out well after wearing, for instance in the bathroom or outside in a sheltered spot. Wool absorbs odours less easily than many other materials and is often fresh again after a night of airing.
Is washing necessary? Use a wool wash cycle at a maximum of 30 degrees, with a low spin speed and a suitable wool detergent with lanolin. Do not use regular detergent or fabric softener. Heat, excessive movement, and the wrong detergent can cause wool to shrink or felt.
Do not wring out and do not put in the tumble dryer. After washing, gently pull the leggings back into shape and lay them flat to dry. If the fabric around the knees has become loose, a careful wool wash can help return the fibres to their original shape.
