DE COLORES wool TWO TONE leg warmers made of 100% baby alpaca
What could be better than warm lower legs on a cold day? Exactly. That’s why we are so happy with these two-tone alpaca leg warmers from De Colores. Soft, warm, fairly made, and also very beautiful to look at. These are the kind of accessories you put on "for a moment" and then never want to take off all winter.
Why baby alpaca is such a game changer
These leg warmers are made of 100% baby alpaca wool. And no, that doesn't mean babies are involved, but that the wool comes from the very first, finest shearing. The result? A fiber that is warmer than regular wool, but lighter, more supple, and most importantly: it doesn't itch. What I often hear in the shop is: "Oh... this really feels soft." And that is true.
Stretchy, comfortable and for everyone
Thanks to the rib structure, these leg warmers are wonderfully stretchy. Slim calves, wider calves, over leggings, tights, or even over tight pants: they adjust themselves without pinching. They are approximately 40 cm long and stay in place, even if you move a lot. Unisex, and also very nice for people who are sensitive to drafts around their lower legs.
Two tone: subtle but special
This version has two shades that flow beautifully into each other. That gives just a little more depth and character than a solid color. You can see that clearly in the photo. Extra fun: we also have wool hats in the same two-tone series, so combining is allowed. Highly encouraged, even.
Fairly made in Peru
De Colores works together with Fairtrade certified studios in Arequipa, in the south of Peru. A large part of the production chain remains there, from fiber to final product. The alpacas live under animal-friendly conditions and the makers receive a fair price for their craftsmanship. That’s why. Period.
Washing? Rather not
Alpaca wool almost never needs to be washed. Airing them out is usually enough. Is it necessary after all? Use a special alpaca detergent like Washpaca. It is mild and keeps the fiber beautiful. In practice: the less you wash, the longer they stay beautiful.

Frequently asked questions about alpaca leg warmers
Why are alpaca leg warmers warmer than regular wool leg warmers?
Alpaca wool is naturally warmer than sheep's wool because the fiber is hollow. This allows alpaca to retain air better and provides stronger insulation while remaining light and breathable.
Do these leg warmers itch?
No. These leg warmers are made of 100% baby alpaca wool. That is the finest alpaca fiber and it does not itch. Even people with sensitive skin wear them comfortably.
Do I have to wash alpaca leg warmers?
In principle, no. Alpaca wool is self-cleaning. A quick airing is usually sufficient. If you do want to wash them, use a special alpaca detergent like Washpaca and wash cold and carefully.
Do these leg warmers fit wider calves?
Yes. Due to the rib structure, these leg warmers are very stretchy. They fit around both slim and wider calves without pinching.
Are these leg warmers sustainably produced?
Yes. The leg warmers are made in Peru, in Fairtrade certified studios in Arequipa. The alpacas live under animal-friendly conditions and the makers receive a fair price.
How do I wear alpaca leg warmers best?
Over leggings, tights, or tight pants, under wide pants to protect against drafts, or as a warm and stylish accessory with dresses and skirts. They are functional and decorative.
