Work there is still done with love and craftsmanship. The alpacas live freely in the Andes, are shorn once a year, and the yarn is processed locally. No fast fashion, no plastic rubbish. Just slow fashion as it should be.

Alpaca fibers are hollow on the inside — which provides warmth in winter and cooling in summer. Moreover, alpaca is naturally odor- and dirt-resistant. Just airing it out is often enough. Also nice: this clothing is surprisingly durable. So you are truly buying a piece that will last for years.

And that Pima cotton? It is hand-picked in Peru so that the fibers remain undamaged. The result is a fabric so soft that it is often called the ‘silk of South America.’ Believe me: you won’t want to take it off.

At APU KUNTUR, everything revolves around fairness. The clothing is made in a family business in Cusco, founded by Nelly Amachi. She started this brand to provide women in Peru with job security and good working conditions. Today, nearly 100 people work there, under fair conditions and with care for people and the environment.
