FISHERMAN wool men's sweater TED BLUE BARK in merino and cashmere
This is truly one of those sweaters that makes you secretly hope it won't rise above ten degrees anytime soon. The FISHERMAN OUT OF IRELAND TED BLUE BARK is a warm, chunky knit men's sweater made from 95% merino wool and 5% cashmere. Classic and rugged, yet the hint of cashmere makes it just a bit softer and more luxurious than a standard wool sweater.
The color BLUE BARK is a deep, melange blue. Dark and calm, but not flat like solid navy. You can see various shades of blue in the yarn, giving the color more depth and highlighting the texture of the knit beautifully. A very easy sweater to wear, but certainly not a boring one.

What does that 5% cashmere do?
TED consists of 95% merino wool and 5% cashmere. That might seem like a small percentage, but it definitely influences how the sweater feels. The cashmere fibers make the knit softer and give the material a more luxurious, supple appearance.
Meanwhile, the merino wool forms the warm and practical base. Wool effectively retains body heat, absorbs moisture, and continues to breathe. This makes TED cozy on cold days without feeling stifling or clammy when you step back inside.
Naturally, it remains a real wool sweater and not a smooth cotton sweatshirt. Most people will find this combination soft, but every skin reacts differently. Are you very sensitive to wool? Wear a thin shirt made of wool and silk or cotton underneath, or come by to feel TED for yourself first.
BLUE BARK: dark blue with plenty of depth
BLUE BARK is a deep, melange blue shade. The color sits somewhere between dark denim, navy, and petrol, and it subtly changes with the light. Due to the different nuances in the yarn, the sweater looks more vibrant than a completely solid dark blue piece.
This is the kind of color that almost effortlessly works with the rest of your wardrobe. Wear TED over jeans for a calm tone-on-tone combination, over brown or sand-colored trousers for a bit more contrast, or over charcoal if you want to keep the look dark and rugged. It even works well over a shirt, though we think it's also perfect for the couch. Fortunately, luxury wool doesn't come with a dress code.
How does the FISHERMAN TED fit?
TED has a regular men's fit and is true to size. Therefore, you should generally choose the size you usually wear. The sweater fits nicely without being tight against the body and offers enough room for a thin shirt or collared shirt underneath.
The raglan sleeves run diagonally from the neck to the arms. As a result, the shoulders fit smoothly and you have plenty of room to move. The round neck, cuffs, and hem are finished with a subtle rolled edge. That gives TED its relaxed, unpretentious Fisherman look.
We have the sweater in sizes S through XL. Would you prefer to wear it a bit looser, or do you like wearing a thicker layer underneath? Then you might consider a size up. Still in doubt? Contact us or come try it on in Rotterdam.
BLUE BARK or CHESTNUT?
We have TED in two beautiful, wearable colors:
-
BLUE BARK: a deep, melange dark blue color with subtle petrol-like nuances
-
CHESTNUT: a warm chestnut-brown shade that pairs beautifully with denim, green, sand, and neutrals
BLUE BARK is the cool, calm choice, while CHESTNUT brings more warmth to your wardrobe. Choosing is mainly a matter of seeing which part of the color spectrum still needs a little attention. Or, you can just skip the decision-making process entirely. We won't judge.
Mulesing-free merino wool
The merino wool that Fisherman Out of Ireland uses for its sweaters is mulesing-free. Mulesing is a painful procedure where skin is removed from around a sheep's hindquarters to prevent issues with flystrike. That treatment was not used for the merino wool in this sweater.
A wool sweater naturally has an impact too. The sustainability here lies primarily in the natural materials, the solid quality, and a timeless design that doesn't go out of style after one season. With proper care, you can enjoy TED for years to come.
What do you do if the sweater starts to pill?
Due to the use of twisted wool, small fuzz or balls may appear on the sweater in the beginning. This is normal. Due to movement and friction, loose fibers from the yarn move to the surface. You usually see this first under the arms, along the sides, or in places where a coat or bag rubs against the sweater.
Do not pull the pills off with your fingers. Doing so can pull new fibers out of the knit, causing
