You hardly need to wash a wool sweater
Merino wool has natural self-cleaning properties. Hang the sweater outside after wearing or in a well-ventilated bathroom. Often, airing is enough and it can be worn again afterwards.
Does it still need to be washed? Then close the zipper, turn the sweater inside out, and use the wool program of the washing machine at a low temperature and with the lowest possible spin speed. Do not let wool clothing soak, do not wring it out, and never put it in the dryer.
For wool clothing, ALWAYS use a special wool detergent with lanolin, such as our own LANALICIOUS wool detergent. This cleans the wool gently and helps keep the fibers looking nice and feeling supple.
After washing, let the sweater dry flat and gently bring it back into shape. It is better not to hang a wool knit on a clothes hanger for a long time. It can stretch out due to its own weight. Therefore, fold the GEER and put it in the closet.
And if the sweater starts to pill?
Pilling can occur with wool and does not mean the quality is poor. Loose fibers can form small balls due to friction, especially under the arms and in places where, for example, a jacket or bag rubs against it.
With a Gleener fabric shaver, you can easily remove those pills. Lay the sweater flat, choose the fine attachment, and work calmly without pressing hard. Stay away from the zipper with the Gleener and be extra careful with the ribbed cuffs. Afterwards, your zip-neck sweater will look neat and well-maintained again.
