De Colores alpaca wool kidney warmer – born from a heartfelt wish
Some products aren't created in a boardroom, but out of a genuine need. This alpaca wool kidney warmer from De Colores is a wonderful example of that. For years, we received the same question in our shop: “Do you also have a nice, black kidney warmer?” We passed on that wish. And De Colores listened. Not just a little, but thoroughly. The result: this reversible kidney warmer, wearable on both sides, in black and color. A self-care classic that just works.
Natural warmth that your body craves
Could your body use some extra warmth? Then a wool kidney warmer is pure gold. It is widely worn for a stiff or sensitive lower back, during menstruation, after childbirth, or simply because you tend to feel cold around your abdomen and lower back. Wool absorbs your body heat and retains it without making you overheat. Exactly what you need.
On social media, someone even shared that they used it over their chest after childbirth to help with the onset of mastitis. I think that is such a beautiful example of how versatile this product is.
Why baby alpaca wool is so wonderful
The composition is 98% baby alpaca wool and 2% elastane. Baby alpaca is exceptionally soft, does not itch, and is perfect for direct skin contact. The elastane ensures that the kidney warmer fits beautifully and doesn't lose its shape, even after frequent wear.
Wool acts as a natural insulating layer: it retains warmth where you need it while allowing your skin to breathe. This means you can easily wear this kidney warmer under your clothing without it being visible.
Reversible & unisex – two looks in one
Every kidney warmer is wearable on both sides. The outside has a color, while the inside is dark charcoal. Want something subtle? Turn it inside out. In the mood for color? That works too.
And it's important to mention: this is not a ‘women's product’. It is completely unisex. Men wear it just as well. The fact that the photos mainly show women says nothing about how it’s used.
A fun extra detail: women sometimes also wear it as a mini-skirt. Feel free to do so.
Fit & sizes
Thanks to the stretchy structure, the kidney warmer fits snugly without pinching. It remains comfortable even in larger sizes.

Care – wool does most of the work itself
Alpaca wool is self-cleaning. Simply airing it out after wearing is usually enough. Need to wash it anyway? Use a special alpaca detergent like Washpaca and wash it carefully. Really, not too often.
Sustainable & fairly made
De Colores works with small-scale workshops in Peru, which is also where the alpaca wool comes from. Everything is made under fair conditions, with respect for people and animals. Warmth with a good story.
