This is one of those sweaters you put on and never want to take off again. ROMY by KnowledgeCotton Apparel is knitted from 100% soft lambswool and has a wonderfully generous fit. Warm, comfortable, and just polished enough to wear to work, too.

How does the ROMY wool turtleneck fit?

ROMY has a relaxed fit and runs quite large. I am wearing a size L in the photo, and you can see that the sweater fits loosely around the body and arms.

Are you between two sizes? Choose the smaller size. If you intentionally want to wear ROMY nice and loose or slightly oversized, you can take your usual size.

The sweater doesn't fit tightly to the body and has enough room to wear a shirt or thin long-sleeve underneath. I have intentionally omitted a general size chart here: the fit of this sweater and our own fitting advice are more telling than a standard chart from the brand.

FIG or BRICK?

FIG is a deep fig color: a beautiful combination of dark red, purple, and burgundy. Rich in color, but very easy to combine with denim, dark blue, gray, pink, and brown.

BRICK is the warmer version with a brick-like reddish-brown shade. Very beautiful with neutrals, olive green, dark denim, and chocolate brown.

100% RWS-certified lambswool

ROMY is made from 100% lambswool, without synthetic fibers. Lambswool is soft, light, and warm. The fibers retain heat but are also breathable and moisture-wicking. This makes the sweater feel cozy without becoming heavy or stifling.

The wool is RWS-certified. The Responsible Wool Standard sets requirements for animal welfare and responsible land management and tracks the certified wool through the supply chain.

How to wear ROMY

In the photo, I combine ROMY very simply with jeans. The sweater really doesn't need anything else. The high collar and beautiful sleeves give it enough shape on their own.

For a dressier look, wear it with wide-leg trousers or a long skirt. Also fun: let a little edge of a blouse or longer shirt peek out from under the sweater.

How to care for this wool sweater?

Fortunately, you almost never have to wash wool. After wearing, first hang ROMY outside or near an open window for a night. Wool is less prone to picking up odors and often feels fresh again after a good airing out.

Does the sweater need to be washed after all? KnowledgeCotton Apparel recommends hand washing. Use cold water and a small amount of Lanalicious wool detergent. Do not rub, wring, or put it in the dryer. Carefully reshape the sweater and let it dry flat.

Preferably store ROMY folded. On a clothes hanger, a wool sweater can stretch out at the shoulders or in length.

A little pilling is normal

Even soft lambswool can pill due to friction, especially under the arms or in places where a coat or bag rubs against the sweater. This is a normal property of wool and not a sign of poor quality.

Do not pull the pills off with your fingers. Instead, carefully use a Gleener fabric shaver. This allows you to remove loose fibers without pulling unnecessarily on the knit.

Don't buy if…

…you are looking for a close-fitting or thin turtleneck. ROMY is soft, warm, and intentionally designed to be generous. Are you looking for a comfortable wool sweater to disappear into without your entire figure disappearing? Then ROMY is a very fine choice.
