Okay, so this is one of those cardigans where I think: why aren't there many more like this? The LOTTE by MADNESS is knitted from 100% organic cotton, has a lovely polo collar, button closure, and two small pockets on the front. A bit of a cardigan, a bit of a jacket, and that collar immediately makes it a lot nicer than a standard cardigan.

For me, it’s mostly that polo collar. It gives the cardigan a bit of a retro look without being stuffy. In addition, LOTTE has a lovely chunky knit structure, dark buttons, and two patch pockets on the front.

How does the MADNESS LOTTE cardigan fit?

LOTTE fits fairly loosely. I am wearing size 40 in the photos and, as you can see, it fits me nicely and relaxed. So you certainly don't need to size up to get that relaxed effect.

Also, keep in mind that knitted cotton often becomes slightly wider during wear. That is just a characteristic of the material. If you are between two sizes and don't want the cardigan to fit too loosely, we would lean towards the smaller size.

What colors is the LOTTE available in?

We have the LOTTE in two colors: Dark Blue and Red. Dark Blue is a beautiful, deep navy that goes with absolutely everything.

And then there's Red... Well, that's what MADNESS named it, so that's its official name. But if you ask me what color this is, I would say: a beautiful, warm, and quite vibrant orange. Definitely take a look at the photos, because they give a much better impression than the color name "Red".

Is this cardigan suitable if you don't wear wool?

Absolutely. And that is exactly why we love having these kinds of cardigans in our collection. LOTTE is made entirely of organic cotton. So there is no wool in it, but also no polyester, acrylic, or other synthetic fibers.

You still get that nice knitted look of a wool cardigan, but in cotton. Ideal if wool is not an option for you or if you simply enjoy wearing a cotton cardigan.

How do you style the LOTTE cardigan?

With jeans, it's immediately a great look. Buttoned up, you can almost wear the LOTTE as a sweater, but worn open, it becomes a very easy cardigan that you can throw over anything.

And underneath a cardigan like this, I think it's fun to have a bit of detail. A shirt or blouse with a print, for example, where you can still see a bit of the pattern between the buttons or at the neckline. Or—even better—one of our glitter brooches on it. It looks particularly great on the understated dark blue.

What is the difference between a cotton and a wool cardigan?

Cotton has different properties than wool. It generally feels a bit sturdier and cooler, and it doesn't have the same temperature-regulating properties as wool. On the other hand, cotton can be very pleasant for people who do not like the feel of wool on their skin.

It is important to know that knitted cotton can stretch out a bit through wear. This is not a defect in the cardigan, but a characteristic of cotton: the fiber has less natural resilience than wool.

How do you wash a knitted organic cotton cardigan?

Wash the LOTTE only when necessary and always follow the care label in the garment. Wash the cardigan inside out with a mild detergent, preferably without fabric softener.

Because knitted cotton becomes heavy when wet, we recommend letting the cardigan dry lying flat and neatly in shape. It is best not to hang the wet cardigan on a clothes hanger: you can unnecessarily stretch the knit that way.

Yes. LOTTE is made of 100% organic cotton and is GOTS-certified. GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard and sets requirements for both the organic fibers used and various steps within processing and production.

Why would we choose the LOTTE?

Because this is typically one of those cardigans that you don't have to think twice about. Jeans underneath, a shirt, and you're done. But thanks to the polo collar, beautiful knit structure, buttons, and pockets, it has much more character than a simple basic cardigan.
