Okay, so this is one of those cardigans where I think: why aren't there many more like this? The LOTTE from MADNESS is knitted from 100% organic cotton, has a lovely polo collar, a button closure, and two small pockets on the front. Part cardigan, part jacket, and that collar immediately makes it a lot nicer than a standard cardigan.

How does the MADNESS LOTTE cardigan fit?

LOTTE fits quite generously. I am wearing a size 40 in the photos, and as you can see, it fits me nice and loosely. You definitely don’t need to size up to get that relaxed effect.

Also, keep in mind that knitted cotton often stretches out a bit while worn. That is simply a characteristic of the material. If you are between two sizes and don’t want the cardigan to be too loose, we would lean towards the smaller size.

Which colors does LOTTE come in?

We have LOTTE in two colors: Dark Blue and Red. Dark Blue is a lovely deep navy shade that goes with absolutely everything.

And then there’s Red… Well. That’s what MADNESS named it, so that’s its official name. But if you ask me what color it is, I would say: a beautiful warm and quite vibrant orange. Be sure to check the photos, as they give a much better impression than the color name ‘Red’.

Is this cardigan suitable if you don't wear wool?

Absolutely. And that is exactly why we love having these kinds of cardigans in our collection. LOTTE is made entirely of organic cotton. There is no wool in it, but also no polyester, acrylic, or other synthetic fibers.

You still get that lovely knitted look of a wool cardigan, but in cotton. Ideal if wool isn't an option for you or if you simply prefer wearing a cotton cardigan.

How do you style the LOTTE cardigan?

It looks great with jeans right away. Buttoned up, you can almost wear LOTTE as a sweater, but worn open, it becomes an easy cardigan that you can throw over anything.

And I personally think there should be something going on underneath a cardigan like this. A shirt or blouse with a print, for example, where you can see a bit of the pattern between the buttons or at the neckline. Or – even better – one of our glitter brooches on it. That looks especially nice on the calm dark blue.

What is the difference between a cotton and wool cardigan?

Cotton has different properties than wool. It generally feels firmer and cooler, and doesn't have the same temperature-regulating properties as wool. On the other hand, cotton can be very pleasant for people who don't like the feel of wool against their skin.

It is important to know that knitted cotton can stretch out somewhat while worn. This is not a defect in the cardigan, but a property of cotton: the fiber has less natural resilience than wool.

How do you wash a knitted organic cotton cardigan?

Only wash LOTTE when necessary and always follow the wash label inside the garment. Wash the cardigan inside out with a mild detergent, preferably without fabric softener.

Because knitted cotton becomes heavy when wet, we recommend laying the cardigan flat and shaping it carefully to dry. Try not to hang the wet cardigan on a clothes hanger, as this can unnecessarily stretch out the knit.

Yes. LOTTE is made of 100% organic cotton and is GOTS-certified. GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard and sets requirements for both the organic fibers used and various steps within processing and production.

Why would we choose LOTTE?

Because this is typically the kind of cardigan you don't have to think about too much. Jeans underneath, a shirt, and you're good to go. But thanks to the polo collar, beautiful knit structure, buttons, and pockets, it has much more character than a simple basic cardigan.
