There are some things you only realize how wonderful they are once you wear them – this wool-silk long john from Living Crafts is one of those.
Why you should treat yourself to a woolly
We always say here: do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a woolly. And by woolly, we don’t necessarily mean a sweater, but rather this type of underwear that works its magic directly on your skin. This long john is made of 70% organic merino wool and 30% silk. That might sound technical, but what you’ll notice most is this: it doesn’t itch, feels soft, and regulates your temperature as if it’s thinking along with you.
Warm when it’s cold, breathable when you’re moving, and never that clammy feeling you know from synthetic underwear. Wool is a hollow fiber and adopts your body temperature, while silk provides extra softness and comfort.
Fit, usage, and that handy fly
The fit is snug, and that’s exactly the point. Wool works best when it fits your body closely. The long john is true to size, so just choose the size you always wear.
Extra nice: this long underwear has a functional fly. This is an opening at the front with a double layer of fabric, making it practical to use without having to take everything off. Small detail, big difference in daily comfort.
You can wear this long john as underwear, under your regular clothes, but it is also very suitable for sports, hiking, or outdoor work. Many men wear them throughout the entire winter.
You don't need to wash wool (really)
Wool is self-cleaning. This means that, in principle, you don't need to wash these long johns. Let them rest for about 24 hours after wearing and hang them up to air out in the bathroom or outside. The natural lanolin in the wool helps with this. If the wool gets a bit damp, the lanolin actually becomes slightly soapy, which enhances the cleaning effect.
So, it’s not strange at all not to wash your wool-silk underwear for months, as long as you air it out well.
Need to wash it anyway? Here’s how to keep it looking great
Does it need a wash after all? Then wash it carefully on a wool cycle with a wool detergent containing lanolin, such as Lanalicious. That nourishes the wool instead of depleting it.
Be sure to pull the long johns back into shape lengthwise after washing. If you don't, they might shrink slightly. Stretching them back into shape ensures they stay nice and long, ideal for tucking into your pants and keeping your back warm.

Sustainable and fair
