The LANGERCHEN DENIZ PLATINUM is a long men's wool parka in a cool heather grey tone with a subtle grey-green undertone. Versatile enough to wear with anything, yet significantly more interesting than standard charcoal.

DENIZ looks like a beautiful wool coat, but it is technically quite smart. Between the organic wool and the soft cotton interior lies a thin PU membrane that blocks wind and offers protection against rain. The extra length, hood, and knitted inner cuffs make it particularly great for cold and blustery days.

Wool with a technical interlayer

The exterior of DENIZ is made of organic wool. Wool retains heat, breathes, and helps wick away moisture. The interior consists of soft organic cotton jersey, so you aren't feeling a slick synthetic lining against your skin.

Between these layers is a thin polyurethane membrane. This makes the fabric windproof and water-repellent, while allowing body heat and perspiration to escape. As a result, DENIZ feels less stuffy than many fully sealed synthetic coats.

While polyurethane is a synthetic material and not biodegradable, LangerChen uses it very intentionally as a functional interlayer, combining it with organic materials, a PFC-free finish, and a sturdy construction designed to last for years.

Hood and cuffs against harsh wind

DENIZ falls well over the hips, protecting a larger part of your body than a short winter jacket. The fixed hood and high closure also keep your head, neck, and throat better protected from the wind.

The sleeves feature snug knitted inner cuffs. These prevent cold air from easily blowing up through the sleeves—a small detail you will be surprisingly grateful for on a bitter winter day.

Is DENIZ rainproof?

DENIZ is windproof and water-repellent and can handle a standard rain shower well. However, the seams are not taped. In prolonged or very heavy rain, moisture may eventually seep in through the stitching. Therefore, it is a technical wool winter coat, not a fully waterproof raincoat.

Did the coat get wet? Hang it on a wide hanger and let it dry slowly at room temperature. Do not place it on or against a heater; neither the wool nor the membrane will benefit from that.

Fit and sizing advice

DENIZ has a straight, comfortable fit and runs true to size. In principle, choose the size you normally wear. However, consider the clothing you intend to wear underneath. If you want room for a thick wool sweater, the coat must also remain comfortable around your chest, shoulders, and arms.

Rutger is 1.90 meters tall, weighs approximately 97 kilos, and is wearing size XL in the photos.
