Why does my LangerChen coat have a membrane?
You can’t see it, but it’s there: a very thin layer of polyurethane (PU) integrated into the coat. We call that layer a membrane, and it is actually the secret superpower of your coat.

What does it do? Very simply: rain and wind cannot get through, but your own warmth and perspiration can escape. This keeps you dry on the outside and the inside. So you don't get that stifling "raincoat" feeling.

Why polyurethane?
I hear you thinking: “But PU, isn’t that plastic?” Correct. LangerChen consciously chooses this because the alternatives are often even worse for people and the environment. Think of Gore-Tex or other membranes with fluorocarbons (PFCs) – those are practically indestructible, but unfortunately also toxic to nature. Polyurethane is currently the most responsible choice for making a coat sustainably waterproof, without you having to carry around harmful substances.

How sustainable is that, then?
