The pockets make the difference
At first glance, the OSCAR might look like a quiet corduroy shirt, but take a closer look and you will discover the fun details. There is a large patch pocket on the chest. Lower down on the front, you will find another generous pocket with an extra smaller compartment.
This asymmetrical arrangement gives the shirt a playful, almost workwear-like appearance. The subtle stitching emphasizes the shape of the pockets without making the whole thing too busy. Boring? Not at all, OSCAR has far too much character for that.
Soft micro corduroy made of organic cotton
The fabric consists of 100% organic cotton and is made in a fine 16-wale corduroy. "Wale" refers to the number of ribs per inch: the higher the number, the finer the rib. This micro cord is therefore much more refined and supple than classic, coarser corduroy.
The fabric feels soft, is breathable, and has a slight sheen when light hits the ribs. Because it contains no elastane, the fabric feels slightly firmer at first. As you wear it, the cotton gradually becomes more supple and develops that fine, lived-in feel.
Fit and sizing advice
The OSCAR has a comfortable, straight fit. It sits in a relaxed way around the body, but is not overly baggy or shapeless. This allows you to wear it as a regular shirt or open over a T-shirt.
The model in our photos is 189 cm tall and is wearing size XL. XL is also his usual size. If you want to wear the OSCAR mainly buttoned up as a shirt, you should generally choose your normal size. If you plan to regularly wear a thicker layer underneath it, you might consider sizing up.
Shirt and light overshirt
Wear the OSCAR buttoned up with jeans for a neat, relaxed outfit. Worn open over a T-shirt, it instantly turns into a light overshirt. The rounded hem and classic collar keep it looking sharp, while the pockets and fine rib provide a cooler edge.
CHESTNUT combines beautifully with denim, dark blue, ecru, black, and olive green. In the photo, our model is wearing the shirt with blue trousers: a simple combination in which the warm color stands out beautifully.
CHESTNUT or NAVY?
We have the OSCAR in two colors. CHESTNUT is the warmer of the two: golden brown, rich, and just a bit different from a standard brown shirt. The stitching blends quite subtly with the color, so the unique pockets only really stand out upon a second look.
NAVY is deeper, more classic, and easier to combine if you mainly wear dark colors. In this version, the stitching is slightly more visible. The model and the fine micro corduroy are the same for both colors. We will leave the difficult choice up to you.
Natural corozo buttons
The OSCAR is finished with buttons made from corozo. This material is made from the hard nut of the tagua palm and is therefore also known as vegetable ivory. The buttons are sturdy and naturally have small differences in color and pattern. Those tiny variations fit perfectly with the warm, natural look of the shirt.
Organic cotton and fairer production
Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. That is better for the soil, the people who work with the cotton, and ultimately for your wardrobe as well. Moreover, the material is breathable, strong, and suitable for year-round wear.
The shirt is vegan and produced in a factory that is audited according to the SEDEX system. SEDEX helps companies to identify and improve working conditions and social responsibility in their supply chain.
How to keep OSCAR looking great
Wash the shirt inside out at a maximum of 30 degrees, preferably with similar colors and a small amount of mild detergent. Button the shirt before washing and remove it from the machine immediately afterward.
Let the OSCAR air dry and avoid the tumble dryer. This will help the color, fit, and fine rib structure stay looking good for longer. Do you want to iron it? Do so inside out at a low temperature and do not press too hard so you do not flatten the soft rib. Always check the wash label in the garment for certainty.
Frequently asked questions about the KOMODO OSCAR CHESTNUT
Is this a shirt or an overshirt?
Actually, it can be both. The fabric is supple enough to wear the OSCAR as a shirt, but sturdy enough to use it as a light overshirt open over a T-shirt.
How does the OSCAR fit?
The fit is comfortable and straight. It is relaxed, but not extremely oversized. Our model is 189 cm tall and wears his usual size XL.
Is the fabric stretchy?
No, the fabric consists of 100% organic cotton and contains no elastane. However, the micro corduroy does become more supple the more you wear it.
What color is CHESTNUT exactly?
CHESTNUT is a warm gold to chestnut brown shade with a slight olive undertone in this shirt. The color is not a bright rust brown and can change slightly in different light due to the sheen of the rib.
Is the shirt vegan?
Yes, the OSCAR is vegan. The corozo buttons are also of plant origin.
Is the OSCAR available in another color?
Yes, we also have this model in NAVY. This is a deep dark blue version where the stitching is slightly more prominent.
