All about this product

KOMODO organic cotton corduroy jacket HATTIE KHAKI

A bit eighties, a bit bomber jacket, and above all, lots of lovely corduroy. The HATTIE jacket by KOMODO is made of 100% organic cotton corduroy and has a distinct oversized fit. The wide shoulders, roomy sleeves, and short, rounded shape give this jacket just the right amount of drama. Don't be afraid: we're talking about fashion drama. The fun kind.

HATTIE is sturdy enough to be worn as a transitional jacket, yet light and supple enough to keep on indoors. We have it in two colors: KHAKI, a deep olive green shade, and CHESTNUT, a warm chestnut brown. For both colors, we also have the matching LOLA corduroy trousers in our collection.

  • High collar

A jacket with plenty of style

HATTIE is not a polite, straight jacket that quietly fades into the background. The jacket has a distinct, oversized silhouette with wide shoulders, voluminous sleeves, and a shorter hem. The various panels and seams give the jacket its shape, while the soft corduroy ensures the whole thing drapes smoothly.

At the shoulders, the fabric is subtly pleated. This gives the sleeves a beautiful rounded shape reminiscent of eighties bomber jackets and panel jackets. The band around the hem pulls the volume back together at the bottom. The result is roomy and casual, but definitely not shapeless.

You can wear the high collar open for a relaxed look or pop it up when it gets cooler. The front closes with a zipper and snap buttons. The spacious side pockets are nicely integrated into the design and offer plenty of room for cold hands and all the small items you didn't want to carry in a bag.

How does the HATTIE jacket fit?

HATTIE deliberately has a roomy, oversized fit. Choose your usual size for the silhouette as intended by KOMODO. This leaves plenty of room to wear the jacket over a chunky sweater or multiple layers.

The KOMODO model is 170 cm tall and is wearing a size 2, comparable to a size 38 (UK 10). In the photo, you can see that the jacket fits loosely around the body and sleeves in this size. That is part of the design and not a sign that someone grabbed the wrong jacket while getting dressed. I am wearing a size L in the photo.

If you prefer HATTIE to be less oversized and you are between two sizes, you could consider the smaller size. If you want the full eighties shape and enough room for thick knitwear, choose your own size. When choosing a smaller size, pay close attention to the sleeve length and the room around the shoulders.

A great transitional jacket

HATTIE is unlined and therefore primarily intended as a light jacket or an extra layer. In spring and autumn, you can wear it outside over a blouse, T-shirt, or sweater. On a cool summer evening, it’s a lot more interesting than that one cardigan you always leave in the back of the car just in case.

In winter, you can also wear HATTIE indoors or use it as an extra layer under a roomier winter coat. The organic cotton is breathable and feels softer and more supple the more you wear the jacket. So, no synthetic, puffy winter jacket, but a sturdy cotton transitional jacket with a natural look.

KHAKI or CHESTNUT?

KHAKI is a deep olive green color with a warm, slightly brownish undertone. Because of the ribbed structure, the color changes subtly with the light. Sometimes it looks distinctly green, sometimes a bit darker and earthier. Looks great with ecru, camel, denim, dark blue, rust, and chocolate brown.

CHESTNUT is a warm chestnut brown hue. Rich, autumnal, and surprisingly easy to combine. Wear it with cream, soft pink, denim, green, or tonal brown shades. Brown is back in fashion, though we think a good color never really went away.

The model is the same in both colors. Your choice mainly comes down to the important question: would you be happier today with olive green or chestnut brown?

Make it a complete corduroy suit

For both HATTIE KHAKI and HATTIE CHESTNUT, we have matching LOLA corduroy trousers in the same color. Together, they form a striking yet very wearable set.

Wear the jacket closed for an almost suit-like look or open with a simple T-shirt, blouse, or knit sweater underneath. Do you think a full corduroy set is a bit too ambitious for an average Wednesday? Then just wear HATTIE with denim, black, or trousers in a contrasting color. The LOLA trousers can of course also be worn separately.

Personally, we are fans of the complete set. If you choose corduroy, you might as well go all out.

Why corduroy is so comfortable to wear

Corduroy is known for its raised ribs, which give the fabric its soft surface and recognizable texture. Cotton corduroy is sturdy but becomes increasingly supple with wear. As a result, HATTIE will gradually mold to your body over time, without losing its characteristic shape.

The fabric is breathable and feels less slippery and artificial than many synthetic jacket fabrics. It remains cotton, of course, and not technical rain gear: HATTIE is not waterproof and not intended for long walks in heavy rain. For normal, dry days and mild transitional weather conditions, it is actually very pleasant.

Organic cotton and vegan

HATTIE is made of 100% organic cotton and is completely vegan. The jacket is produced in a SEDEX-audited factory. SEDEX is a system that monitors labor conditions, health, safety, and business practices within the production chain.

Even a jacket made of organic cotton has an impact. Raw materials, dye, labor, energy, and transport are still required. That is why we believe it is important that a garment is not only made from a more consciously chosen material but can also be worn frequently. Thanks to the timeless corduroy, the roomy fit, and the ability to wear HATTIE as a jacket and an indoor layer, that is fortunately covered here.

How to keep HATTIE looking great

Only wash the jacket when absolutely necessary. Because you usually wear HATTIE over other clothing, airing it out is often sufficient. If it does need to be washed, turn the jacket inside out, close the zipper and snap buttons, and wash it at a maximum of 30 degrees with similar colors. Use a small amount of mild detergent.

Take the jacket out of the washing machine immediately after washing, shake it out gently, and reshape it. Let HATTIE air dry and preferably do not put it in the dryer. This way, the color, fit, and soft rib structure will remain beautiful for longer.

Do you want to iron the jacket? Do so inside out on a low temperature and do not press hard on the ribs. This can flatten the corduroy structure. Often, just hanging it up is enough. Always check the sewn-in care label before you start.

Frequently asked questions about HATTIE

How does the HATTIE jacket fit?

HATTIE has a distinct oversized fit with wide shoulders and roomy sleeves. Choose your own size for the fit shown in the photo. If you want the jacket to be significantly less loose, you could optionally choose a size smaller.

What size is the model wearing?

The model is 170 cm tall and is wearing a size 2, comparable to a size 38 (UK 10).

Is HATTIE a winter jacket?

No. HATTIE is an unlined corduroy transitional jacket. It is ideal for spring and autumn, cool summer evenings, or as an extra layer in winter. For real freezing cold, you will need a warmer jacket.

Is the jacket waterproof?

No. The jacket is made of organic cotton and does not have a waterproof technical coating. It will likely survive a light shower, but for hours of walking in the rain, we recommend something else.

Which colors are available?

We have HATTIE in KHAKI, a deep olive green shade, and CHESTNUT, a warm chestnut brown color.

Are there matching trousers?

Yes. The KOMODO LOLA corduroy trousers are available in both KHAKI and CHESTNUT. This allows you to turn HATTIE into a complete corduroy set.

Does the cotton become more supple?

Yes. Cotton corduroy can feel a bit firmer at first, but it will gradually become more supple through wear and will mold beautifully to your body.

Biologisch katoen is bijzonder

And just like that, you were gone!
