There are certain winter accessories that just make you smile the moment you put them on. These cheerful Himalaya mittens are exactly that. Colorful, warm, fair-made, and so wonderfully soft on the inside that you won't want to take them off.
Why you'll want them
The exterior is made of 100 percent RWS-certified wool. This means animal welfare standards are properly met and no mulesing is practiced. The inside – right where you might experience the most irritation – is lined with 100 percent organic cotton. No itching, no dry hands, just comfort. And all this in color combinations that add a little light to even the gloomiest winter days.
Furthermore, they are fully fair-trade knitted in Nepal by artisans who receive a fair wage for their craft. And believe me: you can see that craftsmanship in every stitch.
How they fit
The mittens are one size and fit most adult hands easily. They fit snugly at the wrist, stay in place while cycling, and feel thick and warm without making you feel like you can't move your hands. Customers often say: "Oh yes, that lining really makes a difference." And that's absolutely true.
Match your set
What makes these mittens extra fun: there are matching hats and leg warmers in the same cheerful knit. So you can put together a complete winter set that is not only warm but also adds a little fun to your outfit.
Material & care
The outside is wool, the lining organic cotton. And because wool is a beautiful but delicate material, here is my standard wool advice:
Use a wool detergent containing lanolin, such as Lanalicious. Wool fat (lanolin) ensures your wool accessories stay fresh, don't hold onto odors easily, and remain wonderfully supple. Ordinary detergent removes this protective layer, which would be a shame.
Wash only on a wool cycle, use detergent sparingly, do not overfill the washing machine, and remove them immediately to prevent wash marks. Pay attention to jewelry to avoid snagging.
You can see extra tips in the video I made especially for you: watch this video. But also read our washing guide, which you receive with every purchase, carefully.
Sustainable & fair
The combination of RWS wool, organic lining, and fair-trade craftsmanship makes these mittens one of my favorite winter accessories in the shop. Warm for you, fair for the maker, good for the world.
