HIMALAYA Fair Isle sweater GABI RED made of pure lambswool
This is the kind of sweater that immediately puts a little spring in your step. The GABI RED by FRISTED by HIMALAYA is knitted from 100% pure lambswool and has a beautiful bright red base. Around the neck, there is a playful Fair Isle pattern in pink, orange, red, and warm brown tones. The same colors are subtly echoed along the bottom and on the sleeves.
If you look closer, you will see small nubs between the knitted pattern. Not an ostentatious decoration, but just enough texture to make the sweater special. GABI is colorful, warm, and a bit quirky. In short: exactly the type of sweater we like to face a gray winter day with.

Red, but a really beautiful red
GABI RED is not a cautious reddish-brown or a color that secretly turns out to be almost burgundy. The base is a bright and powerful red, with a lively pattern in pink, orange, and various shades of red. Because of that combination, the sweater feels warm and colorful, without the knitwork becoming childish.
The different colors give the sweater many possibilities. Wear it with dark jeans, black trousers, or brown corduroy pants and let the red do the work. It also looks beautiful with denim blue, dark purple, rust brown, or a quiet neutral tone. And with a skirt and sturdy boots, it can, of course, also be worn to something where you are supposed to be dressed nicely.
FRISTED and HIMALAYA – how does that work?
The GABI comes from the FRISTED collection by HIMALAYA. FRISTED is the knitwear label associated with HIMALAYA that focuses specifically on knitted clothing. The collections are full of color, special yarns, patterns, and knitting structures. Not just another neat, plain sweater, but knitwear that someone clearly enjoyed making.
The production uses the same sustainable principles that are part of HIMALAYA. For this GABI, the choice was made for pure, mulesing-free lambswool that has not been treated with a superwash process.
Not organic wool – but a clear story
The lambswool of the GABI is not organically certified. The sweater does have an OEKO-TEX certification. That quality mark says something about the control of harmful substances in the material and the final product, but it does not automatically make the wool organic. We think it is important to clearly state that distinction.
The wool is also mulesing-free. Mulesing is a painful treatment sometimes applied to some sheep to prevent problems with fly larvae. For this sweater, wool is used that has not undergone this treatment.
The wool has also not had a superwash treatment. With superwash, wool is treated so that it can be washed more easily in the washing machine and is less likely to felt. This treatment is absent in GABI. As a result, the wool retains its more natural character, but the sweater requires a little extra attention when washing. Fortunately, wool is naturally quite low-maintenance.
Warm without being a heavy sweater
Lambswool comes from the first shearing of a young sheep and consists of relatively fine wool fibers. The wool retains heat well, while the sweater does not feel heavy or bulky. Great for cold days when you want to be dressed warmly but still want to be able to lift your arms.
Of course, it remains real wool. This means that the material feels different from smooth cotton or synthetic fleece. Some people wear lambswool directly on their skin without any problems, while others prefer to wear a thin shirt or a wool undershirt under the sweater. Are you sensitive to wool? Fit and size advice
The GABI has a straight and comfortable fit. It is not tight against the body, but it is not excessively loose or oversized either. The round neck fits neatly and the hem falls straight. Generally, choose your own size.
The sweater is made of pure lambswool and contains no elastane. So do not expect the same stretch as with a jersey shirt. Are you between two sizes, do you like wearing a layer under your sweater, or do you prefer it to fall a bit looser? Compare the product measurements with a favorite sweater from your own wardrobe.
The width is measured while the sweater is lying flat, from armpit to armpit. For an indication of the full chest circumference, you can double this size. Manual measurement can always result in a small difference.

How to care for GABI RED
You don't need to wash wool after every wear. Hang the sweater outside regularly or by an open window to air out and let the natural properties of wool do their work. A small stain can often be carefully removed locally.
Is a full wash still necessary? Use the wool wash program at a maximum of 30 degrees, a low spin speed, and a small amount of special wool detergent. Regular detergent often contains enzymes that can damage wool fibers. Do not soak the sweater and do not rub or wring it out.
Take GABI out of the machine immediately, gently reshape it, and let it dry flat. Not on a hanger, not on the heater, and certainly not in the dryer. Pure lambswool has many good properties, but a wild ride through the tumble dryer is not one of them.
