ERIBÉ ALPINE cardigan – the famous merino wool and angora fair isle cardigan
Okay, if I’m allowed to recommend just one cardigan for autumn and winter, this is the one. The ALPINE cardigan by ERIBÉ is not just any woolly cardigan. It is color, softness, craftsmanship, and cheerfulness all in one. It's the kind of cardigan you put on and immediately think: yes, this is why I love beautiful wool.
The OAKLEY features a warm, earthy color combination that feels instantly familiar and stylish. Deep blue alternates with warm brown and natural shades—a combination reminiscent of autumn forests and fireplaces. The OAKLEY is the ideal choice if you love a calm, classic look that never gets boring. It pairs beautifully with camel, cognac, dark blue, ecru, olive green, charcoal, and black. Wear it with brown or dark blue trousers for a harmonious look, or use it as a pop of color for a neutral outfit.
ERIBÉ’s ALPINE cardigans are made from soft merino wool with a touch of angora. This makes them feel wonderfully warm, light, and fluffy, without becoming a heavy, bulky wool garment. And that beautiful fair isle pattern… really, there’s a reason ERIBÉ is world-renowned for it.

A fair isle pattern that commands respect
ERIBÉ has become famous for these types of colorful fair isle knits. And rightly so. The patterns are rich, playful, and traditional all at once. Not fussy, not old-fashioned, but rather fresh and quirky. Each color combination has a completely different feel: from soft and wintry to bold and cheerful.
These are the kinds of cardigans people notice. You pull it on over a basic shirt, a blouse, or a turtleneck and your outfit is instantly complete. No hassle, no complicated styling tricks. This cardigan does the work for you.
Fit & styling
The ERIBÉ ALPINE cardigan has a slim fit and is nicely tailored without being tight. We intentionally chose the slightly longer version because it is just a bit more comfortable to wear during the colder months. No cold lower back, no "just-a-bit-too-short" feeling. Just nice, warm, and very wearable.
Wear it open over a T-shirt or blouse for a relaxed layered look. Or button it all the way up and wear it as a sweater with jeans, corduroy trousers, or wool slacks. It also looks beautiful under a coat, as the colors will peek out nicely at your neck and sleeves.
Unsure about the size? Then be sure to check the size chart. The ALPINE is slim-fitting, so if you are between sizes or prefer a bit more room, a size up might be more comfortable.
Merino wool with a bit of angora
The combination of merino wool and angora makes this cardigan exceptionally soft and pleasantly warm. Merino wool is fine, breathable, and temperature-regulating. This means it keeps you warm without causing you to overheat. The touch of angora provides that soft, fluffy, luxurious feel you just can’t stop touching.
And yes, wool is a bit of an investment. But if you take good care of it, you will enjoy it for years. This is not a one-season cardigan. This is a piece you will cherish.
Washing tips from Vera
Fortunately, you don’t have to wash wool very often. In fact, preferably not at all. Simply letting it air out outside often works wonders. Wool is naturally self-cleaning and stays looking better if you don’t put it in the washing machine too often.
If the cardigan does need a wash, use a wool wash program, cold or at a very low temperature, and a little bit of wool detergent. We are, of course, fans of Lanalicious detergent, precisely because it contains lanolin. That helps keep your wool beautiful, supple, and well-maintained.
Always dry the cardigan flat. Do not hang it up while it is wet, as it may lose its shape. And absolutely do not put it in the dryer. Wool and dryers are not friends.
Do little pills appear after a while? That is perfectly normal with nice wool. In that case, gently use the Gleener fabric shaver. It removes pills neatly without damaging your cardigan.

Sustainable & fair
ERIBÉ designs in Scotland and is known for its colorful knitwear with a modern twist on traditional fair isle knitting. These are not anonymous mass-produced cardigans, but true character pieces. Made to be worn for a long time, to be styled, and to bring you joy again and again.
And that is exactly why ERIBÉ fits so well with Natur-el. We love clothing with a story. Clothing that doesn’t feel boring after just three wears. This cardigan is a beautiful example: warm, cheerful, unique, and made with a love for wool.
Don't buy if...
Are you looking for an oversized cardigan or a very smooth, plain basic cardigan without a print? Then the ERIBÉ ALPINE is probably not your model.
But are you looking for a soft, warm, and colorful wool cardigan that gives your outfit instant character? Then this really is a gem. The kind of cardigan you look forward to wearing every year as soon as it gets colder.

What material is the cardigan made of?

Yes, absolutely. You can wear the cardigan open over a top or blouse, or buttoned up completely as a sweater. That makes it extra versatile.
How do I wash an ERIBÉ wool cardigan?
Wash it as little as possible. Airing it out is often enough. If washing is necessary: use a cold wool wash program, a little bit of wool detergent like Lanalicious, and let the cardigan dry flat.

No, preferably not. Wool can shrink and felt in the dryer. Let the cardigan dry flat on a towel.
What can I do about pilling?
A little pilling is part of soft wool. Gently use a Gleener fabric shaver to remove the pills and refresh your cardigan.
