ERIBÉ ALPINE cardigan – the famous fair isle cardigan made of merino wool and angora
Okay, if I may recommend one cardigan for the autumn and winter, it is this one. The ALPINE cardigan by ERIBÉ is not just any woolly cardigan. This is color, softness, craftsmanship, and joy all in one. It’s that kind of cardigan that you put on and immediately think: yes, this is why I love beautiful wool.
The AMELIA is one of the most striking color combinations in the ALPINE collection. Warm orange and rust-brown tones alternate with deep blue and cream — a combination that feels instantly warm and autumnal, yet also fresh and quirky. The AMELIA pairs beautifully with denim, dark blue, ecru, camel, brown, and charcoal. Wear it over a white blouse for a fresh look, or over a dark turtleneck for maximum warmth and depth.
ERIBÉ's ALPINE cardigans are made from soft merino wool with a little bit of angora. This makes them feel wonderfully warm, light, and fluffy, without it becoming a heavy woolly burden. And that beautiful fair isle pattern... truly, ERIBÉ is world-renowned for it for good reason.

A fair isle pattern that commands respect
ERIBÉ has become famous for these types of colorful fair isle knits. And rightly so. The patterns are rich, playful, and traditional all at once. Not fussy, not old-fashioned, but rather fresh and quirky. Each color combination has a very different appeal: from soft and wintry to bold and cheerful.
These are the kinds of cardigans people comment on. You pull it on over a basic shirt, a blouse, or a turtleneck and your outfit is immediately complete. No fuss, no complicated styling tricks. This cardigan does all the work.
Fit & styling
The ERIBÉ ALPINE cardigan has a slim fit and is nicely tailored without being tight. We intentionally chose the slightly longer version, as it is just a bit more comfortable to wear in the colder months. No cold lower back, no "just-a-bit-too-short" feeling. Just lovely and warm and very wearable.
Wear it open over a T-shirt or blouse for a relaxed layered look. Or button it all the way up and wear it as a sweater with jeans, corduroy trousers, or wool slacks. It also looks beautiful under a coat, as the colors will peek out nicely at your neck and sleeves.
Are you unsure about the size? Then definitely check the size chart. The ALPINE fits snugly, so if you are between two sizes or prefer a bit more room, a size up might be more comfortable.
Merino wool with a bit of angora
The combination of merino wool and angora makes this cardigan particularly soft and pleasantly warm. Merino wool is fine, breathable, and temperature-regulating. That means it keeps you warm without causing you to overheat. The touch of angora provides just that soft, fuzzy luxury feel that you'll want to keep running your hand over.
And yes, wool is a bit of an investment. But if you take good care of it, you will enjoy it for years to come. This is not a cardigan for a single season. This is the kind of piece you cherish.
Vera’s washing tips
Fortunately, you don't need to wash wool very often. In fact: preferably not at all. Simply letting it air out outside often works wonders. Wool is naturally self-cleaning and stays in better condition if you don't put it in the washing machine too often.
Does the cardigan still need to be washed? Use a wool wash cycle, cold or at a very low temperature, and a small amount of wool detergent. We are, of course, fans of Lanalicious detergent, precisely because it contains lanolin. That helps keep your wool looking beautiful, supple, and well-maintained.
Always let the cardigan dry flat. Do not hang it up when wet, as it may lose its shape. And absolutely do not put it in the dryer. Wool and dryers are not friends.
Are there some pills after a while? That is very normal with high-quality wool. Gently use the Gleener fabric shaver. It neatly removes pilling without damaging your cardigan.

Sustainable & honest
ERIBÉ designs in Scotland and is known for its colorful knitwear with a modern twist on traditional fair isle knitting. These are not anonymous mass-produced cardigans, but true character pieces. Made to be worn for a long time, to be styled, and to be enjoyed again and again.
And that is precisely why ERIBÉ fits so well with Natur-el. We love clothing with a story. Clothing that doesn't feel boring after wearing it three times. This cardigan is a beautiful example: warm, cheerful, special, and made with a love for wool.
Don't buy if...
Are you looking for an oversized cardigan or a very smooth, plain basic cardigan without a print? Then the ERIBÉ ALPINE is probably not your style.
But if you are looking for a soft, warm, and colorful wool cardigan that immediately gives your outfit character? Then this is truly a gem. The kind of cardigan you look forward to every year as soon as the weather gets colder.
Frequently asked questions about the ERIBÉ ALPINE cardigan
How does the ERIBÉ ALPINE cardigan fit?
The cardigan has a slim, fairly snug fit. If you are doubting between two sizes or like to wear an extra layer underneath, choose the larger size.
What material is the cardigan made of?
The ALPINE cardigan is made of soft merino wool with a little bit of angora. This makes it feel warm, light, and wonderfully soft.
Is this cardigan itchy?
Merino wool is much finer and softer than regular wool. Due to the touch of angora, the cardigan feels extra soft. If you are extremely sensitive to wool, trying it on is naturally the best way to be sure.
Is this cardigan warm enough for winter?
Yes, this is a wonderfully warm cardigan for autumn and winter. Thanks to the merino wool, it remains breathable while providing plenty of warmth.
Can I also wear the cardigan closed as a sweater?
Yes, absolutely. You can wear the cardigan open over a top or blouse, or buttoned up as a sweater. That makes it extra versatile.
How do I wash an ERIBÉ wool cardigan?
Wash it as little as possible. Airing it out is often enough. If washing is necessary: use a cold wool cycle, a little bit of wool detergent like Lanalicious, and let the cardigan dry flat.
Can this cardigan go in the dryer?
No, preferably not. Wool can shrink and felt in the dryer. Let the cardigan dry flat on a towel.
What do I do about pilling?
A little bit of pilling is part of soft wool. Use a Gleener fabric shaver gently to remove pills and freshen up your cardigan.
Where is ERIBÉ from?

Which colors are available?
