A black wool-silk turtleneck you can wear under everything
This is one of those garments you only realize how useful it is once you own it. The Engel Natur wool-silk women's turtleneck is a thin, form-fitting turtleneck made of 70% organic Merino virgin wool and 30% silk. Wonderful as a warm base layer under your regular clothes, but also stylish enough to wear on its own as a sweater thanks to its neutral black color.
The fabric feels soft, smooth, and light, and fits comfortably against your body. The collar keeps your neck covered without the need for a thick winter sweater. Perfect for cold work days, a winter walk, or when you are sitting indoors somewhere where the heating clearly has different plans than you do.

Wool and silk: warm without the bulk
Wool and silk together create a very pleasant quality for clothing worn directly against the skin. The wool helps retain your body heat and can absorb moisture without feeling clammy immediately. The silk makes the fabric smoother, more supple, and lighter. As a result, this turtleneck feels less dense and generally slightly less warm than a similar shirt made of 100% wool.
That is precisely what makes it so versatile. You can wear it under a blouse, dress, cardigan, or wool sweater without adding much extra volume. Outdoors, it can serve as a base layer under your coat. Indoors, it is neat enough to wear visibly, for example with trousers or a skirt. Because your arms and neck are also covered, this turtleneck provides significantly more warmth than a wool-silk tank top.
Although wool-silk is experienced as soft by many people, sensitivity to wool remains personal. If you are very sensitive to fibers on your skin, it is always wise to try it on. Within the category of woolen underwear, wool-silk is usually a softer and smoother choice than 100% wool.
Fit and sizing advice
The Engel Natur turtleneck has a form-fitting design. This is convenient when you want to wear it as a base layer: the fabric sits close to your body and does not bunch up under other clothing. Wool-silk is stretchy and moves easily with you.
Are you in between sizes, do you have a larger bust, or do you prefer your turtleneck a little less tight? Then choose the larger size. Use the body measurements from Engel below to choose your size. Measure your chest, waist, and hips without pulling the tape measure too tightly.

How to care for this wool-silk turtleneck
Fortunately, wool does not need to be washed after every wear. Let the turtleneck air out after wearing, for example in the bathroom or outdoors in a sheltered spot. Often, that is enough to make it feel fresh again.
Is washing necessary? Then use the wool cycle at a maximum of 30 degrees, with a low spin speed and a suitable wool detergent. A wool detergent with lanolin helps care for the wool during washing. Do not use regular detergent, fabric softener, or bleach.
Do not wring and do not tumble dry. After washing, gently pull the turtleneck back into shape, including length-wise, and let it dry flat. Do not lay it on the heater: wool loves warmth when you are wearing it, but prefers not to during the drying process.
