This classic men's wool sweater from KnowledgeCotton Apparel is made from 100% soft lambswool and features a round neck, a regular fit, and fine ribbed trims. Not complicated, not trend-sensitive, and that is precisely why it is so good.
We have RUUD in three beautiful colors: FIG, a deep fig to wine-red shade, CHOCOLAT, a dark chocolate-brown color, and LILYPAD, a calm, grayish-green tone. All three are easy to combine, but fortunately not so boring that you'll forget them immediately.

How does the KnowledgeCotton Apparel RUUD fit?
RUUD has a classic regular fit and runs true to size. Therefore, in principle, you should choose the men's size you normally wear. The sweater fits neatly around the shoulders and torso, but is not intended to be worn tight.
Do you want to easily wear a shirt underneath it, or do you prefer a slightly looser fit? Then you can take your usual size. If you are debating between two sizes and prefer your sweaters to have a neater, closer fit, choose the smaller size.

100% lambswool, no synthetic fibers
RUUD is made of 100% lambswool. Lambswool is fine, light, and insulating. The wool keeps you warm when it is cold, but can simultaneously absorb and release moisture. As a result, a wool sweater usually feels less clammy than a synthetic one.
The sweater contains no polyester, acrylic, or other synthetic fibers. You get the real feel of wearing wool: warm and natural, but also slightly more vulnerable to friction. That is part of the material's nature and is not a manufacturing defect.
The wool feels soft, but how wool is experienced on the skin remains personal. Are you very sensitive to wool? Then wear RUUD over a cotton T-shirt, shirt, or a thin shirt made of wool and silk. Or, of course, come by and feel it for yourself first.
What does RWS-certified wool mean?
The wool in RUUD is certified according to the Responsible Wool Standard. The RWS sets requirements for animal welfare, land management, and the traceability of the wool through the production chain. Mulesing is not permitted under this standard.
That is something different than organic wool. KnowledgeCotton Apparel lists this model as 100% RWS-certified lambswool. That is why we consciously do not refer to RUUD as an organic or merino wool sweater. After all, sustainability also begins with honestly stating what something is—and what it isn't.
FIG, CHOCOLAT, or LILYPAD?
FIG is a deep fig color that leans toward wine red and burgundy. Warm, rich, and beautiful against dark blue, gray, black, and brown.
CHOCOLAT is dark chocolate brown. A calm and rugged base color that combines beautifully with denim, sand, olive green, and anthracite.
LILYPAD is a grayish leaf-green color. Green enough to have character, but calm enough to wear almost like a neutral color.
How to style the RUUD wool sweater
With jeans, RUUD is simple and effective. With chinos and a shirt, it becomes dressier, without looking like you are on your way to a job interview you are not looking forward to at all. The fine-knit model also works well under a jacket or overshirt.
The round neck and calm finish make RUUD a true essential for autumn and winter. The color ultimately provides the character. FIG is the most outspoken, CHOCOLAT the warmest, and LILYPAD the easiest alternative to standard dark blue or gray.
How to wash a lambswool sweater
Preferably as little as possible. Wool is naturally dirt- and odor-repellent. After wearing it, hang RUUD outside or by an open window and let it air out. Often, that is sufficient.
KnowledgeCotton Apparel recommends hand washing for this sweater. Use cold water and a small amount of Lanalicious wool detergent. Do not rub, do not wring, and do not let the sweater lie in the water for unnecessarily long.
After washing, gently bring RUUD back into shape and let it dry flat on a towel. Do not bleach, do not tumble dry, do not iron hot, and do not dry clean. It is best to store the sweater folded, so it does not stretch at the shoulders on a hanger.
Pilling in wool is normal
Even a good wool sweater can pill. Through movement and friction, loose fibers come to the surface. You usually see this first under the arms, along the sides, and in places where a jacket or bag rubs against the sweater.
Do not pull the pills off with your fingers. This can pull new fibers out of the knit. Instead, carefully use a Gleener fabric shaver. Test it first on an inconspicuous area and work without pressing hard.
Do not buy if...
You are looking for a thick, chunky cable-knit sweater or if you simply do not like wool at all. RUUD is, by design, a calm, fine-knit classic. Are you looking for a pure men's wool sweater that you can wear both with jeans and with a dressier outfit? Then this is the kind of sweater you will probably reach for much more often than you expect.
