The kind of skirt that makes you think: why don’t they just always have this? The TRANQUILLO JULE is a short black skirt made of 100% organic wool, crafted from boiled wool. Wonderfully warm, beautifully sturdy, and at the same time, surprisingly easy to wear.
The JULE has a fairly simple, slightly flared shape and falls roughly to the knee, depending on your height, of course. And – very important for a skirt – it has pockets! There is a subtle zipper at the back, and the waistband is lined on the inside with soft wool jersey. So, no harsh, itchy edges around your waist.

What makes the TRANQUILLO JULE so great?
Mainly that this is a skirt that looks neat, while also being wonderfully warm and practical. The boiled wool has a compact, sturdy structure, which helps the skirt hold its shape beautifully without hanging limply around your legs.
And black is black: you can wear almost half your wardrobe with it. A nice wool sweater, a blouse, a turtleneck, a cardigan… done.
How does the TRANQUILLO JULE skirt fit?
The JULE fits true to size. In principle, choose the size you usually wear with TRANQUILLO or other skirts.
The skirt fits nicely at the waist and flares out slightly from there. This ensures it doesn’t fit tightly around the hips, giving you that lovely, simple A-line. The inside of the waistband is lined with soft wool jersey for extra comfort.
Is the TRANQUILLO JULE made of real wool?
Yes, and quite a bit of it: the skirt is made of 100% organic wool. Furthermore, the wool used is RWS-certified (Responsible Wool Standard, CU844876).
The RWS sets requirements regarding, among other things, animal welfare and the management of the land on which the sheep are kept. Additionally, the certification ensures traceability within the production chain.
What is boiled wool?
Boiled wool – you may also encounter the terms walk wool and boiled wool fabric – is made more compact through heat, moisture, and movement. The wool fibers interlock more closely, creating a dense, sturdy, and warm wool fabric.
That is precisely what makes it such a wonderful material for a skirt: warm enough for colder days, but still breathable and temperature-regulating thanks to the natural properties of wool.
Does a boiled wool skirt itch?
How you experience wool remains personal. Furthermore, boiled wool is not the same material as an ultra-fine merino wool sweater worn directly against the skin. With the JULE, this has been considered at the waist: the inside of the waistband is finished with soft wool jersey.
And the rest? You will likely wear tights or pantyhose under it in the autumn and winter anyway. We certainly wouldn't skip this skirt just because the word "wool" makes you think of itching.
How do you style a black wool skirt?
You can truly go in any direction with this. Combine the JULE with a thin turtleneck and boots for a slightly neater look, or with a chunky wool sweater, tights, and sturdy boots.
And because the skirt itself is a simple, solid black, it is also a perfect base for those beautiful colored and variegated wool sweaters that we love so much. It’s nice to have something that doesn’t demand all the attention.
How do you wash the TRANQUILLO JULE wool skirt?
The nice thing about wool is that you need to wash it much less often than, for example, cotton. Often, airing it out well is sufficient. Hang the skirt up after wearing it and give the wool a chance to refresh itself.
Does it need to be washed? Then use only a suitable wool wash program according to the wash label and a special wool detergent. We love using Lanalicious wool detergent with lanolin for this. Do not wring, do not tumble dry, and let the skirt dry gently into shape.
How do you keep boiled wool looking nice?
Friction can cause small pills to appear on wool clothing over time. This is normal and does not reflect the quality of the wool. If you see them appear, carefully remove them with a Gleener fabric shaver. This keeps the surface of your skirt looking well-maintained.
Frequently asked questions about the TRANQUILLO JULE
Does the JULE fit large or small?
The JULE fits true to size. We therefore recommend choosing your usual size.
Does the JULE have pockets?
Yes! The skirt has convenient slit pockets on both sides. In our opinion, always a plus for a skirt.
How does the skirt close?
There is a subtle zipper at the back. This keeps the front nice, simple, and clean-lined.
Is the JULE suitable for winter?
Absolutely. The compact boiled wool makes this a wonderful skirt for the colder months. Combine it with warm tights, a wool sweater, and boots.
