Oooooh, just look at that color! The PETRA MULTICOLOR from THINKING MU is one of those wool sweaters that makes you even happier when you look at it up close. From a distance, it appears as a soft, light heather, but if you look closer, you see truly all the colors passing by: pink, lilac, blue, yellow, green… Very subtle, but that’s exactly what makes it so much fun.
And then the material: 100% Norwegian wool. THINKING MU uses RWS-certified wool for this, and the quality is surprisingly soft. It’s not a thin sweater, but a beautiful, substantial wool knit that you can enjoy for years to come.
Why is the THINKING MU PETRA MULTICOLOR so special?
For us, it’s all about that heathered yarn. Instead of one solid color, the PETRA is made up of a huge number of tiny colors. This makes it truly versatile to wear with anything. Dark blue jeans? Yes. Gray? Yes. Bordeaux, green, brown, ecru? Also, yes to all.
It has that lovely, classic wool sweater look, but those multicolor flecks keep it from being anything but boring.

What is Norwegian wool?
Norwegian wool comes from sheep adapted to the cool and rather rugged Norwegian climate. The wool is known for its resilience, warmth, and durability. It is a strong type of wool that retains its shape beautifully, making it very suitable for sweaters that don't need to be discarded after just one season.
And before you immediately think of an old-fashioned itchy sweater when hearing 'Norwegian wool': the PETRA actually feels wonderfully soft. THINKING MU has used a fine, soft wool quality for this sweater.
Is the wool in the PETRA mulesing-free?
Yes. The wool is RWS-certified. RWS stands for Responsible Wool Standard, which sets requirements for animal welfare and the management of the land the sheep live on. Mulesing is not permitted under this standard.
And important to us: this wool is not superwash. No superwash treatment has been used to artificially alter the natural properties of the wool fiber.
How does the THINKING MU PETRA fit?
The PETRA has a relaxed, slightly roomier fit with dropped shoulders. It’s not extremely oversized, but it has that nice, nonchalant look as you see in the photos. Choose your usual size for this look.
The length is just right: not so long that all your pants disappear underneath it, but certainly not super short either. This makes it very easy to combine with both jeans and a wider-legged pair of trousers or a skirt.
How do you style the PETRA MULTICOLOR?
That is the wonderful thing about this sweater: almost anything goes. Because of all the small colors in the yarn, it picks up a great number of colors from your wardrobe.
For example, we would combine it with dark blue wide-leg trousers for a calm look, but it is also great with denim. And do you have pants in bordeaux, olive green, or brown lying around somewhere? Definitely try wearing them together. There’s a good chance you’ll suddenly have a completely new combination.
How do you wash a 100% Norwegian wool sweater?
As little as possible! Wool has natural self-cleaning properties and really doesn't need to be washed after every wear. Hang your sweater outside or by an open window regularly to air it out. Often, that is enough.
Does it still need to be washed? Then always follow the care label and use a suitable wool detergent. We like to use Lanalicious wool detergent with lanolin for this. Wash wool gently, at a low temperature, and without large temperature fluctuations. Do not tumble dry and let it dry flat in shape.
Can the PETRA pill?
Yes, it can. And that is completely normal for a natural wool sweater. Especially in areas where there is a lot of friction – for example under the arms or where a bag rubs against the sweater – small bits of fluff or pilling can occur over time.
You can easily remove these with a Gleener fabric shaver. It’s truly one of those things where, after buying it, you’ll think: why didn’t I have this ten years ago?
Frequently asked questions about the THINKING MU PETRA MULTICOLOR
What is the PETRA made of?
The PETRA MULTICOLOR is made of 100% Norwegian RWS-certified wool. The wool is mulesing-free and has not been superwash treated.
Is the THINKING MU PETRA itchy?
We find this wool quality surprisingly soft. Keep in mind, of course, that sensitivity to wool is personal. If you are very sensitive, a thin cotton or wool shirt underneath can be comfortable.
Why does every PETRA look so colorful?
The yarn consists of all kinds of different colors that together give that beautiful heathered effect. Do take a look at the detail photo: that's where you can really see how many colors are hidden inside.
Is this wool sweater superwash treated?
No. The PETRA has not been superwash treated. The wool thus retains its natural character and therefore requires a little love when washing.
