Darning needles for repairing wool socks PRYM 5/0 short
Darning needles for mending your wool socks
Yes, wool socks are absolutely amazing... until you get holes in them. We cannot say it often enough: pure wool socks get holes. For some people faster than for others. So it is a plain fact that holes appear in 100% wool socks. For some it happens sooner than for others. My partner, for example, gets holes in his socks quite quickly, while I can wear mine for winters on end. There can be all sorts of causes, even the way you walk, the type of shoes you wear, or whether you wear them with or without slippers. Incidentally, it is explicitly our advice not to wear them as slippers. That is 1. Dangerous, because wool socks are very slippery and 2. The wear-and-tear process is even faster.
Holes in wool socks are therefore completely normal!
Holes in wool socks, despite our advice, can never be completely prevented because this is simply part of the properties of wool. Fortunately, holes in socks are very easy to darn with our darning wool and these needles. The needles are from PRYM and have a sharp point. Personally, I find this the most pleasant for darning my socks. The needles are the short version and it is exactly the pack you see in the photo. There are 6 needles.
It is best to start darning socks as soon as the wool becomes thin. If you don't, they can fray further. For you, it is (hopefully) not too late yet :-) Don't forget to order darning wool and a darning egg! For the latter, as you have seen, you can also use an orange!
If you are looking for a longer-term solution for cold feet that you can safely walk around indoors with, then that would be our Glerups. You can wear them without socks: warm feet guaranteed.
